  1. I have no idea if your current or potential times merit a D1 scholarship, but i have known a few athletes who attended D1 track schools and had a terrible time and transferred. Some/many/most track coaches at serious programs don't care about maximizing *your* potential; they will force you to train 3 hrs a day, and if you can't handle the workload they discard you bc they only care about winning at a high level. Less prestigious programs or smaller colleges allow you to just run maybe once a day, and you still get the benefit of a free or discounted college degree. It's hard to study for school if you're worn out from running and competing. Most of the track athletes i've met got less-useful degrees in majors like Communications etc.

  2. This. It’s about throwing darts and seeing who can survive the pain, they really only care about having 5-7 guys who can get up and score points for them. If the entire rest of the team has stress fractures, who cares.

  3. This. The top guy on my cross country teams through middle school and high school never ran in the offseason. He’d start a few weeks before the season, rip workouts at the front of the pack and place top 3 in all of our meets. I don’t remember his exact times but they were in the 15-16:00s.. and that’s with like no base. Plus during the weeks he did the same training as me, we were probably only putting in 20-30 miles per week max. He went to college and ran and now runs professionally. Dude was just crazy talented.

  4. I have never left a bar without closing out. You should always do it. I’m sure it’s a fee.

  5. What's the main difference with marathon training if you keep similar mileage? Shorter long run but longer work-outs? Doubles?

  6. Usually a more intense focus on shorter track distances, repeats, etc

  7. I second the 5k suggestion. It’s fun to train for something totally different.

  8. I found $50 cash on the side of the road this morning during my easy run. Best run ever.

  9. Who had the record before? Off the top of my head I’d guess Venters or O’Flaherty

  10. Yea it’s basically just saying don’t dive into phase 2 if you haven’t been doing steady miles for a while, he gives you 6 weeks to do that if you’ve been slacking.

  11. Wow, that's really unfortunate. I had 10 flights for work inside europe and 2 vacation flights last year and had no problems. And none of my friends or family ever had. But maybe my attitude changes, if it ever happens to me.

  12. It will absolutely change. Also there are some airports that are so busy you have to wait 20-30 minutes for your bags to come in. No way

  13. Currently looking to get some new shoes and was thinking about getting the Brooks Glycerin 21s or the Ghost 16s. However, since these are $60 would it be worth it to get a pair? Are they really comfy?

  14. The Pegasus is very different from the other two. It’s a solid trainer, but it’s a very firm ride and imo generally a good trainer for someone who’s light and puts in miles with ease.

  15. Doesn’t surprise me. If he has a year better than last year, his stats will be crazy, not that they weren’t last year.

  16. Not just the stats, he’s got the body, the arm, and the poise to stand out.

  17. Has anyone read Running with the buffaloes? I’m going through it now. I know I’m not a division 1 caliber guy or coach, but some of their training seems nuts. Wetmores insistence on single runs only with 100+ mpw… eeesh

  18. It's not nuts given the context, but certainly hard to understand that context unless you've experienced it directly.

  19. Yea I’d love for the author to do a follow up year with the program and write another book or short book about it.

  20. I’m convinced that Zac Efron is going to go through a later career hits period like mcconaughey did.

  21. I’d use your recent race and see how the training goes. Daniel’s training can be brutal if you don’t have a strong background. Trust me you’ll be glad you did when the Q sessions start kicking your ass.

  22. I lived in a 3 bedroom at that time and it was $350 per month including utilities per room. We had individual leases.

  23. UGA is the gymnastics equivalent of Alabama football

  24. I use both the Saucony Endorphin Speed and the Novablast. Both great shoes and I think they compliment each other well. I use the Speeds I want to pick it up a little bit and the Novablasts on slower, longer runs. The Magic Speed is also very comprable to the Endorphin Speeds, but pretty much used for the same thing. Both the Novablast and Speeds are my all-time favorites!

  25. Thanks for your input. I’m thinking about the novablasts or nimbuses to compliment my speed line next. Currently running triumphs and enjoy those as well.

  26. At $240 it can’t be underrated 💀it better be the best god damn trainer in the world.

  27. It’s one of the few books or series where both narrations are really damn good. I think it’s whoever you listened to first.

  28. Literally just bought one. Got buzzed one too many times on my morning run yesterday.

  29. There are a lot of dice rolls in the sim. Try re loading right before the offseason, the amount of different jobs that will pop up is surprising. Some come open pretty much every time but it seems like coaches retiring is a roll.

  30. Yes coaches retiring is absolutely a random dice roll. I have noticed that aspect being completely random plus there is a snowball effect from different coaches retiring and others filling their positions which creates more openings. I’ve never seen any evidence in prior legacies that would suggest players going pro is random though! There have been numerous occasions where I would re sim the end of a season to try and get players to stay bc I thought it might be random but I was never successful.

  31. Yea I had the Louisville job come open in my last sim but my game crashed right after. I must have reloaded the end of that season 15-20 times before giving up on it.

  32. We need a damn big man. Ideally one who can stretch the floor some with Whites offense.

  33. My personal opinion as someone who puts in more mileage and goes through more shoes: sometimes you just gotta throw darts and see what sticks. I’ve found that I can personally run in just about any companies shoes without huge issues. I buy last years models online for a pretty big discount. Something in that same daily trainer mold might be the Saucony Triumphs or ASICS gel nimbus. If you want something more aggressive I’ll never stop recommending Saucony Endorphin speeds.

  34. Just wanted to give a YouTube channel shoutout to Global Runner over there. Small channel right now, but he’s 50 and he’s FAST. Shares a lot of helpful training tips and vlogs. Between him and Patrick Martin I’m amazed at how fast you can go 40-50+

  35. There’s nothing wrong with it per se but no cross training is equal to actually running. If it’s just supplementary then sure.
