Take the $80k, put 3/4 into high yield savings. Invest the other 1/4. Max your TSP every month. Use all the TA you can in those six years to get a degree. If in those 6 years you don’t like it, you’ve at least set yourself up.

Dude we were curtains half-mast, and I took a phone call from my very ill father in my barracks room while my Marines were being taught a class by another NCO in the lounge.
IMO no, but I’m an Infantryman, and biased. The experience has its highs and lows, but so will your overall experience in the Corps as a whole. My mind, body, and soul are stronger because of the decisions I’ve made in my time, and I wouldn’t change it for the world. I love what I do, and I’m very passionate about the Infantry & Warfighting.

It’s all love man. Recruiting is a different beast. I used to fucking cringe every time I saw someone in uniform doing literally anything on the internet like this. But understanding the why and where it’s coming from, is what I used to down play.
Yeah, fuck that guy. Pretty sure he was actually a Navy pilot, first, scored a transfer to the Marine Corps, got out, couldn’t hack it as an airline pilot, then bid to return to AD. At least, that’s what a former A-4 driver, turned check airman for that airline told me over beers.
It is referred to as an “Administrative Open Contract”. You will select the program you qualify for upon completion of MEPS. Only way you sign for a job prior to MEPS is when Reservists select an open QSN out of what is available for them.
If they opt for Marine Standards, the rate to wear the uniform. Had a doc in 2016 that was in Marine Regs and wore our service alphas to the ball. Dude was a hitter, homie is a SARC now.
Tbh whatever you’re comfortable in man. I’ve worn Solomon’s, Chuck Taylor’s, and issued Marine Corps shit for ten years. Insoles are what you need to make sure you invest in.
Sold a full size Boker Kwaiken Brass/Micarta three or four years ago when I sold my whole collection to fund a move, and I haven’t been able to replicate the love I had for that knife since. My absolute favorite I’ve ever had, one day I’ll find another.

Not rare in the 03 field at all. Learn lots of good racist jokes. Be good at your job. No different than being any other color.
