  1. Westward Whiskey. Portland has a number of top-tier distilleries, but this is my current favorite.

  2. The Chowder Bowl on Newport's Nye Beach (ocean side) is our afternoon favorite.

  3. That's a tough one to answer. Since you like bourbon, an easy drinking ex-bourbon casked highland malt might be a good place to start. Glenmorangie 10yr is good value.

  4. Waiting for my brother and his wife's being here this summer. I'll share it and then give them theirs for their anniversary.

  5. What the hell does “slow proofed” mean (in the non sourdough sense). I’m not familiar with this but it does look like a bunch of puffery on the label. For OPs sake, I hope I’m wrong

  6. This doesn’t look like it’s from the U.S. given that they put the $ behind the numbers.

  7. Definitely not a good place to work, but letting the NLRB in on your little "secret" is clearly in order. The current administration may well investigate.

  8. It's whiskey, not scotch, so it will taste differently. Personally, I don't compare scotch to rye, American, Canadian, bourbon, etc.

  9. The thing I've never seen mentioned in any news or discussion on this topic: Where's the competition? There absolutely should be brands coming in to undercut these ridiculous prices, but the market is practically locked out. A core tenant of what supposedly makes capitalism work isn't even being considered because it's just accepted that it's been tossed to the wayside.

  10. There was more competition before the Reagan administration decided they would no longer enforce anti-trust laws.
