  1. This happened to me a year ago! My doctor told me that I was post menopausal based on labs (estradiol was very low and FSH was high). When I asked how I could be post menopausal when I’d never missed a period she said she didn’t know but that the fact that I was bleeding “post menopause” was concerning and she ordered a uterine biopsy. I just learned the other day, through this group, that menopause cannot be diagnosed with labs. I’m glad you realized right away that your doctor was mis-informed. I am also looking for a new doctor.

  2. That is so interesting! My night sweats and body odor have increased recently. I typically consume soy daily, but I cut it out a few weeks ago as part of an elimination diet I am doing to identify food sensitivities. It will be so interesting to see if my symptoms improve when I re-introduce soy!

  3. I am about the same height as you and I was in about the same weight range and couldn’t make a dent until I was finally diagnosed with hypothyroidism and started medication. Could be something like that. My doctor never saw my weight as an issue because I was at a healthy BMI, but it wasn’t normal for me. I have a small frame and I felt uncomfortable.

  4. I don’t recommend SAM-E or St. John’s Wart if you are on serotonin medication though.

  5. Agree. I know that taking St. John’s Wart with an SSRI can lead to serotonin syndrome which can be deadly. I’m not familiar with SAM-E. Always important to check with your doctor or pharmacist before adding supplements.

  6. I am currently experiencing this also. I don’t have suggestions on how to cope as I am also in the “what do I do now?” phase. Partner is not open to the possibility of adopting and I live hundreds of miles from my nieces and nephews. I’m fortunate to live in a world where FaceTime exists, but I miss being a part of their lives.

  7. I think in some cases it may be an excuse, but in more situations than not it’s what the teen believes to be true based on their lived experience with their family. There seems to be a strong bias against vegans. I would not have been allowed to go vegan while living at home - not even vegetarian. One meal was made and I was not to get up and make something else for myself. Eating with the family was a high deal I my home

  8. You're probably perimenopausal based on the hot flashes and vaginal atrophy, so it's probably a good thing you're on HRT, but it sounds like the biopsy was a huge waste of time and worry based on your regular periods. Sorry you're going through this.

  9. I know the difference between peri and post menopause. My doctor ran labs and told me that I was post menopausal based on my labs. Which I learned yesterday is not a thing. The biopsy was done due to “abnormal uterine bleeding” because I was still having monthly periods. My doctor said that I shouldn’t be bleeding because I was post menopausal.

  10. I didn’t understand the caption so I looked it up. It’s a Dutch saying that means that you have landed someplace good.

  11. 25mg seems low, but I am not a doctor. I am on both and find it helpful. I was on just sertraline (generic for Zoloft) for several years and adding the Wellbutrin has been helpful. Hopefully the $520 is the eval fee and the med checks aren’t so expensive.

  12. I’m sorry that you are lonely. I’ve had that happen before and it feels awful. I hope you can enjoy the rest of the evening doing something you enjoy!

  13. I’m confused as to why the library has a play area with blocks if they don’t want children to play there? Children make noise while playing. That said, accommodations can’t always be figured out in the moment. The staff was in an awkward position if they were receiving complaints from other people. You could have left when asked and followed up with someone higher up via phone or email to work something out.

  14. I am so sorry about the loss of your cousin. I’m not aware of a space to express condolences besides social media accounts. Donating to an animal shelter was a wonderful thing to do.

  15. That very well be the case in some teen’s households. You could encourage them to cut out animal products to the best of their ability and focus on going vegan in the future when they are on their own.

  16. What question would you ask to promote that idea?

  17. You would need to start by getting them to agree that harming any animal is wrong and getting them to make the connection that the meat they consume is an animal that was killed. If they agree with that and say “but my parents control the food at home and won’t let me be vegan” you could respond with “are there occasions when you do get to choose your own food?” Or “do your parents buy fruits and vegetables, spaghetti, and other food that is vegan? Could you build your meals at home around those foods?” and then go from there. You are planting seeds by being out there and educating. They may not “get it” right away and that doesn’t mean that you haven’t helped move them towards being vegan.

  18. Marshmallow root tea really helps me. It contains mucilage which we think helps soothe/heal the bladder wall, it definitely feels like that for me

  19. Oooh I love tea. I’m going to pick some marshmallow root tea up!

  20. A teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of water helps me. Not immediately, but over a few days. I leave it on the counter and drink some whenever I walk by, over 2-3 hours or longer.

  21. I tried that a couple weeks ago and drank it really fast because it tasted so bad. Little sips throughout the day sounds like a better option

  22. Amy’s outfit, hair, and make up look great! Tammy looks like she’s continuing to make progress. So proud of her!

  23. You are being willfully obtuse by equating those two statements. Anyone who has any knowledge of the treatment of dark skin people would understand the difference when historical context is taken into consideration.

  24. That’s what I was thinking - she worries about those situations where people assume that the children are not hers or that she is the nanny.

  25. I have cut out caffeine, citrus, chocolate, carbonation, artificial sweeteners, tomatoes, soy, and gluten. I’ve also tried to reduce my salt intake. This has all seemed to help. I do some very gentle yoga and light walking. I also got a round “doughnut” shaped pillow to sit on which helps.

  26. Thank you for replying! I had a period of time for a year where I was feeling a lot better so I reintroduced coffee and orange juice to my life - big mistake because that could be contributing to my issues. I will need to stay away from those again. I find I can handle black tea with milk fine if I have it with water and food which I'm happy about because I could not live without my earl grey or chai lol

  27. Tea has helped when I really want a warm drink. I do watered down apple juice when I really want juice. It can be frustrating and scary to try to figure this all out but I am so glad to have found this group of people who “get it.”

  28. Hey it’s all good. The world is so fucked up. I can’t change that and I can’t help everybody. But at least I could help somebody! How often do you get the opportunity to change the track of a person’s life for the better?

  29. Not often! You did a kind and selfless thing that not many are willing or able to do!

  30. Are you at an age where perimenopause/menopause is possible? I had a similar experience to yours. I am 43 and post menopausal based on labs - even though I still have a period. All that to say, menopause and vaginal atrophy are something to consider. I just started a topical estrogen cream and hoping it helps. During the 2 weeks it took me to get into the doctor I discovered IC while googling my symptoms and thought it was a possibility so I eliminated caffeine, chocolate, citrus, carbonation, soy, and tomatoes which has also helped my symptoms also. I haven’t had any bad experiences with Azo but it didn’t seem to help my symptoms much.

  31. Yes, I am 44 so may be perimenopausal. I also have to take birth control to regulate periods due to irregular cycles. This is something I never experienced before- it just came out of the blue. I started on Azo today, just one dose yet but that isn’t enough to help I suppose. I am going through a stressful time and have developed a strong health anxiety. That isn’t helping either, but this symptom is very real.

  32. I had a super similar experience - came out of nowhere. No history of urinary issues. I volunteer at an animal sanctuary and my symptoms started the day after I did a lot of heavy lifting and sweating and I didn’t drink enough water. I was certain it was a UTI. I did have blood in my urine but only a small amount. After two trips to urgent care they suspected a kidney stone and sent me to the ER. I did not have a kidney stone and I did not have an infection. I started doubting myself because I was in pain but the doctors kept telling me I was fine. Finally got into my PCP and she took me seriously and referred me to Urogynecology.

  33. I’m sorry you are struggling with addiction. This isn’t a moral failure. Addiction is complex, and it’s not something you have done wrong. Loving yourself and trying not to stress are super important. Stressing will only make the flare worse. I recently discovered Dr. Stephen Grinstead. He has done a lot of work on chronic pain and addiction. He’s got articles and videos on his site that you might find helpful.

  34. I don’t know why, but I thought the show gave the Pillow Talk cast the outfits/pjs. I wish I could remember where I heard that. Either way, they are so cute together.

  35. Do you know what bloodwork to ask for at the doctors? In my country they seem very bad at perimenopause and are very restrictive about HRT 😞 so knowing what to ask for at a checkup is gold!

  36. I hear you! I am 43 and have had sxs for a a year. I don’t know why there isn’t more education around menopause. I was placed on HRT, which helped with the hot flashes but not sleep. I finally went on prescription sleep medication because the lack of sleep was affecting my ability to function.
