  1. If there are any Apple employees on here, I’m so sorry I just have to say this. I’ve been using Apple for over two decades and I’m at the highest point of my frustration with Apple products ever and not keen on the direction of the company. I’m no great tech person, just a customer and an ex-Apple enthusiast. Just a tiny voice out of your customer base if you care to listen.

  2. Do not freeze it. Do not attempt repairs. Data recovery programs have names. Do not run data recovery programs.

  3. Thanks for the advice. I’ll see what professional services I can find and look into how to diy and decide.

  4. If it's the enclosure I'd not expect slow reading. Enclosure issues are probably more binary; it either works or does not. Slow reading drives more likely indicate a drive issue.

  5. Thank you. I’m in Australia. I’ll leave it well alone for now and see what everything entails in the morning. Is there an urgency to getting this done, ie. if I leave it for a week or two unplugged in until will it deteriorate?

  6. If they recorded you from your own property it is Is legal if you didn't personally request them to stop. You can set the rules on your own property but without dictating the rules you set, they were able to film legally.

  7. That seems to be what all the pages I’ve read say, “it is best to get their consent”, or “you should”. It isn’t straightforward that it’s illegal to film on private property. Even with the Qld Criminal Code, it says recording is illegal if it’s filmed without consent in a “private place” not that recording is illegal on private property without consent. Please let me know if that wasn’t what you mean for me to read further into. Oh sorry, I thought you were replying to me.

  8. Sorry, I didn’t read it too carefully at first. It could be a number of things:

  9. Confine her then slowly enlarge space as she uses the litter box, is the usual advice. Ymmv with barn cat.

  10. I had the CatGenie for years and can't say that happened to me. I had to stop using it because my older cat decided she was done with it and refused to go :(

  11. Thanks for the feedback. I will look at it again. Wait, I forgot they didn’t put back a drain when the laundry was redone. Hmm.. Well, I’m glad you had some troublefree years of CatGenie with reduced litter duty. This info will be helpful for someone else!

  12. Agree with potential for ringworm, although I’m not saying it is definitely. It’s taking off clumps of hair and it’s in a circular pattern. I’d get a second opinion for sure.

  13. A bit self-congratulatory, but I upvote your agreement with me. Thank you.

  14. Hmmm none of our other animals have gotten anything like it in the two months that she’s been here. But I actually have some miconazole on hand! I’ll look up more on it. Thank you!

  15. Cats sometimes don’t show symptoms. It’s affected one of mine badly but not the other. It’s terrible for people who have compromised immune systems so that’s something to be aware of! If you’re curious before visiting the vet, get a black light bulb and use it in a lamp. I have a black light torch from my Sharpie fluorescent set. It’ll at least let you know there’s a high likelihood of dealing with ringworm/fungal/yeast type stuff, so you can get it quickly under control before you’re dealing with a massive problem!

  16. Not just skunks, but all mammals. Marsupials (like the north american oppossum) and rodents are less likely affected/infectious, but less is not zero.

  17. It’s been so long since I was taught about rabies that I’ve forgotten what it’s like for countries that live with it, especially when it’s almost never mentioned in Australia.

  18. Cheer it up with Churus (or whatever puree treats are called in your area). I tamed a screaming kitten with a purée treat instantly.

  19. I have 3 cats so its a little tricky, he was a barn cat before I got him so we made sure to de-worm but its been a while. I've seen him in front of the food bowl like he normally eats, but I'm not 100% that he actually ate, and so far the only food-throw up was that first day. I'm going to get some petromalt tomorrow in case he just has a long hair stuck in his throat. Money is very tight rn so I'm really just trying to make sure before we go to the vet. He really hates car rides and the vet is far too so I'd really rather not stress him out more unless I absolutely have too but we'll see how tomorrow goes 🥲

  20. A cat that doesn’t eat for a long time can develop hepatic lipidosis (fatty liver) which would take intensive veterinary treatment to correct or be life-threatening.

  21. Clearish yellow with green specks might be bile/liver. Do you worm him? Is he pooing? Does he shed a lot? Think you should take him to a vet. More importantly, has he been eating?

  22. Thank you for your advice. I plan on talking to the manager tomorrow.

  23. If you need to escalate, make a consumer complaint to your local fair trading office equivalent state attorney generals office which has a resolution process. If manager refuses refund and says they did the job, ask them to show off your hair on their Facebook page or say you will do so on yours with a link to theirs, with your hair request images for comparison. Be sure to include quoted cost and final charge.

  24. Wrap the legs/cover carpet with sisal rope or mats? Confine him in room until he learns to use his scratching posts? Cat trees have carpet. Find him a carpet he likes more?

  25. Spaying too young can cause problems. If you can keep her safe and wait it out then do. Otherwise I’ve seen vets who will do it as young as (six?) eight weeks, which your cat is definitely older than.

  26. Day care/time share/cat friend: do you have a responsible relative that stays home and loves cats? She’s probably saving all her energy for you cos it’s not as fun to play alone.

  27. Probiotics? Ask receptionist to pop you on the vet cancellations list and be prepared to make the appointment? Switch them to grain free? Farting is gas, usually caused by bad bacteria, which feeds on sugar/excess carbs/junk food in humans. So start there?

  28. i really dislike their size and market cap for this reason. i don't think apple would be operationally any different if they magically had 1/5th of their current market cap, but they'd be under way less scrutiny.

  29. A smaller company would also mean it needs to focus. I’d like to see it focused the way it used to be.

  30. If its an apartment complex with public wifi the internet access would be shared with everyone. Connecting a router and running through it's setup process will automatically secure everything for you

  31. Ah, I guess you haven’t lived next to a creepy stalkerish type with a compsci degree and obsessive focus! I did not trust my WiFi/router/firewall at all, whether my paranoia was warranted or not.

  32. It wasnt, if your router is less than 5 years old and from a reputable brand (and it's software updated) you shouldn't have any problems.

  33. That’s reassuring. I have a new router now. Thanks also. It wasn’t too terrible in the spectrum of human extremes.

  34. Does she have more than one box? Some cats like one box to poop in & one box to pee in. Weird, I know, but we’re humans, not cats, so what’s weird to us makes perfect sense to a cat.

  35. Snow bengals apparently love water. Maybe she’d like to play with a sprinkler while in a cat patio.

  36. If you have the money the veterinarians in my area are great. If you don't have the money they could care less. I was willing to pay the entry fee of $75 but then let's give my cat some nourishment and then we can talk about other expenses. My cat hadn't been eating for a few days and I just wanted her to get some sort of nutrients.

  37. I carefully syringed some Nutripet onto my cat’s teeth when he wasn’t eating. It’s a high-energy vitamin concentrate. Maybe you have similar where you live. It’s important that they get calories to prevent hepatic lipidosis which is life threatening, otherwise the treatment is so much more expensive. I find myself having to feed my pets before taking them to the vet, not cats particularly, but others that require food 24/7. The trip, waiting, and investigations take too long and they decline because of lack of food. I hope the vet found the cause of your cat not eating.

  38. I’m not a fan. I disliked something he said about “raw cat” a while ago. Specifics are gone from my memory now, and I searched but doubt rewatching him will help. We’re not “raw humans”, and cats live in a domestic environment with benefits and drawbacks. Something about the concept of “raw cat” didn’t seem right with me. Surely I’m not the only one? Maybe one day I’ll get back to watching him after watching the others.

  39. Your kitty will be fine. My cat, Swiss Roll loves to be locked in the bathroom. He goes in there and begs you to shut the door for him. Small spaces are comforting.

  40. It’s probably aimed at keto people, not gf, but yeah, a reminder that if you’re gf you have to read the fine print a lot.

  41. That’s what it looks like to me too, like he was bitten there. I hope not!
