  1. Can't recall the last time I even saw a 50kw station. They are all 150kw+ around here.

  2. Come to the midwest, we have a ton of chargepoint 50-62kw units and a ton of dealerships with 50kw units.

  3. Not sure where you are in the midwest, but in the greater STL area and especially beyond it, I wouldn't use the word 'ton' even once in that sentence... Not saying they aren't out there, but I've been getting excited when someone even gets a one-stall 50kw EVgo at a bank or office building. Lol

  4. Yeah I worded that poorly lol. I meant like in relative terms to existing larger stations there's a ton of dealerships with 50 kW units or just a random 62 kW Chargepoint in a not so great location.

  5. I definitely went to the Pilot In and asked what they had on draft and was quite disappointed to find out they didn't have any.

  6. Most of the processes need constant power to work which is also an issue.

  7. Yeah if I drove 10 under the speed limit on the interstate around me there's a chance I cause an accident, cause a road rage incident, get shot, or ran off the road lmao. Maybe all of the above.

  8. Yeah, I realize now that I should have checked that (and taken a picture of it.) I know that the trip was about six miles at 35-45 before the freeway, 250 miles on the freeway at the speed limit, which was maybe 50% 60mph and 50% 55mph, and then another maybe five miles of 35-45. That's just for one direction, the trip down showed almost the exact same numbers, but the average was 4.6.

  9. I think the word choice is what is causing issues. When you say 'freeway' people assume you're talking about the interstate where speed limits are usually 65 mph to 85 mph. The Bolt will not get 250 miles at 70 mph. Most range tests at 70 mph get around 230 miles or so. At 85 mph you'd drop down to 150 miles of range. These are assuming no HVAC usage and great temps (like 70s).

  10. Between Cincinnati and Detroit sure is. Cincinnati and immediately surrounding isn't bad.

  11. I travel the same route frequently. It sucks. That's Cridersville NEVI station can't come soon enough.

  12. This may be the most extended construction project in the history of time.

  13. The hivemind of reddit gets pretty weird. Like, do these people post the same thing in the Tesla subreddit?

  14. Yeah I don't get all of the carplay androidauto hype/comments. The Bolt's integration with Android Auto isn't even that great and is fairly limited.

  15. Unfortunately Duke doesn't implement programs like this in SC :-(

  16. I clubbed 2 shrews last year. Didn't care for it. But also fuck them shrews. Whaddya supposed to do? Be the new shrew hangout?

  17. I’m working on sourcing a Silverado EV inverter that can be plugged in place of the Bolt heater unit. A couple of tricks to make it all turn on, and it should be a very capable setup without the mess of having to run an inverter on the 12V system.

  18. And many people aren’t even aware of the $4K used EV credit. And there are typically local or electric company (PG&E can pay up to another $4K) credits/rebates that you can stack. You can get some insane deals right now.

  19. Not everyone qualifies for the used $4k credit because of the AGI limitations, but most will probably find that they qualify.

  20. Same with Silverton, except those bitches won’t even give you a credit for the city taxes you already pay if you work in the city of Cincinnati. So, you have to pay city taxes twice unless you work and live in Silverton.

  21. Damn that sucks. Deer Park at least does reciprocity with the city of Cincinnati.

  22. Silverton is one of the only places in the entire state of Ohio that pulls that shit. My buddy is a CPA and thought I must be mistaken about no reciprocity. He couldn’t believe it. Funny thing is I’m one street away from being in Deer Park, which really rubs it in.

  23. I don't know about Tesla but Freewire does use batteries in theirs.

  24. Tesla and EA have both deployed Tesla Megapacks at some locations to help avoid peak pricing.

  25. Do you have photos of pre-fabbed EA or EVgo hardware on trucks?

  26. https://www.automotiveev.com/evgos-prefabricated-charging-infrastructure-deployment-model-expected-to-cut-installation-timelines-by-50/

  27. hm. I had no idea this was a thing. Glad it's over. You should have to pay like the rest of us.

  28. Yep! Started in 2008. I'm assuming to promote EVs and also to reduce the smog in the city.

  29. They want parking spots to turn over, not long term parking at meters

  30. Would be quite the bummer, but I don't really DCFC the car the way it is. Maybe 6 times a year and the Tesla superchargers that I would use are only V2 so it's not going to be available.

  31. As someone with both a Bolt and an ICE, I won’t be doing any DCFC unless the prices regularly fall below .40/kWh. The Bolt is considerably slower, clearly, but I can’t see myself paying gasoline prices for the privilege of waiting longer to fuel for the time being. GM can probably keep their adapter.

  32. Yeah DCFC prices are fairly high. Luckily for me I charge at home 95% of the time and my solar system offsets about 22k miles a year.

  33. Should just keep the thing energized, ready to fry the asshole that cuts into it...

  34. I'm in agreement with this. Doesn't have to be a lot of power, just enough to give a tickle and make someone realize they're a dumbass.

  35. Oh yeah there's a lot of affordable options now. You can get a used Bolt for like $13k. Regardless of make or model, with EVs still in the early adoption phase, the people who are buying them earn statistically higher income than the general population.
