I always imagined they didn't add melee to Deadspace because it would make the game easy with our current necromorphs. We would need something that melee is hard to melee kill first. When I first saw the chargers in DS2, I thought they would be a good candidate. But then I learned you could just sucker punch them to cancel their charge lol.
