If you have the skill, it may be ok. You need to know when to pull your punches and when to fudge HP. Being a DM of 10 years likely means you have the skill to pull this off, but it really takes a lot of effort. I do this in my games frequently, and while it is difficult, my players love it. I also let them type delete in on D&D beyond to delete the character, which makes it feel more physical and permanent. If you do it right, you can absolutely design challenging fights using PC rules. However, challenge rating will not help you. You need to use your own judgement to determine which abilities are fair and which ones aren't, and what level the character should be. A paladin is incredibly powerful and probably should not be able to use divine smite as often. They specialize in all the things that make them a tough challenge for players: high AC, DPR, healing.
I agree. I’ve used wizards and martial classes against my party in the past to succeed on their part, but paladin and Druid remain the most sticky for me. They are good players and know well mechanics but I don’t want to kill more than one of them at a time and I believe they understand this too. What I was looking for was a good 8-9th high level fight in a high magic campaign but I guess I’ll just homebrew it as always. No big deal, just looking for an easy way for an easy way out in an overtime week.
Thanks everyone. I was really hoping someone had some insightful answer as to player build = level of CR per class but as my assumptions went, I’ll just make a monster stat block as per my usual.
Yup it’s really hard to have a passion for anything. I still haven’t figured out what i want to do with my life because it’s so hard to stay interested in something.
Been in your shoes of trying to figure out what to do and can happily say that maintenance in a factory of some sort is the way. Nothing is the same any day of the week and there’s always something to learn and change your focus.
There once was a pirate, as history relates Who was having a scuff with some of his mates He tripped on a cutlass Which rendered him nutless And now he’s quite useless on dates
The first game, touchdown + casualty + mvp
Do you have only one player on your team?!

Revealed by a local Lfgs that they cannot sell any of the holiday boxes under $240
How did you do the base??
Pretty much one time throughout the game, you can ignore one instance of damage.
Put the evidence in the CAR Junior!
Bi-Hanzo
I’m really hoping for Bi-Hanzo. A scorpion saibot would be incredible.
What days would this run on?
It’s play by post. Sorry for confusion
HEROSCAPE MINIS!

Because she made me exactly what she wanted me to be, which isn’t what she wanted me to be.
That’s not gonna be good for business.
