In my opinion, hard workers should be rewarded with more hours. But what I'm seeing is the hard workers getting the same hours as those who half a$$ it, it forces the good workers to leave. It's part of the reasons that's pushing the hard workers out. At my store the only way the hard workers can get more hours is at my store by conned into a supervisor or management position, them they get pushed to the breaking point that they end up turning to drugs and alcohol to numb the stress.
So what's a welder make where you live compared to a department lead? I'm I may ask, I think this varies a ton. Heli arch welding aside basic welders I.E. mig welders don't make what a department lead makes, this is why I ask.

Sometimes people just can't afford it, sometimes they can and just don't want to. Either can happen and both should be expected from time to time when doing a job like that.
The management at this company thinks micromanaging people 24/7 is the ideal way to run the store. I can count on my hands how often I've seen them in the trenches with fellow employees, I've been here for a year+. Now I don't expect them to always be in the trenches, they should really spend most of their time doing manager duties, but it's comical how much time they spend micromanaging people who have been with the company 2+ decades on how to perform their job. Of course this doesn't apply to all of management but it honestly feels that way at times.
this sounds like an accident that can happen to anyone, regardless of wearing an earbud or not. though it is just the smarter thing to do, not wearing them when getting carts. it's kind of common sense at that point. I'm sorry to hear that happened to him.

I stopped a lady from buying $1,000 in apple gift cards to "buy a plane ticket for her husband overseas". I informed her that she was being scammed. Even got a manager to back me up. She threw a fit, screaming "I know my husband." I made me sad that she was scammed and lied to so hard, she's willing to defend a man she's never met and probably never seen.
The way I look at it is people who get bonuses also have positions that hold certain responsibilities and consequences if the department falls short of that goal. If there's no bonus being given to meet that goal, there is no incentive for me to buy into making that goal happen, and I'll do my job, nothing more.

Glad he reimbursed you for it but thats precisely why I donāt let people use my knives unless I have something cheap I donāt care about on me.

You could add a small drop of oil to the slide release until it breaks in. Eventually it will be easier to do without needing any oil.
