the ones with explosive tags now are the scorcher, plasma shotgun, xbow, and the eruptor.

It's an additional risk to the whole team with no tangible benefit other than the "cool" factor that gets stale after the first couple of times.

nothing... literally. You can't damage them during certain animations and stuff so just wasting ammo.
