Iāve heard (so take with a grain of salt) it was originally switched to the older system by a state appointed controller, which happens usually when a city is either in default or otherwise somehow not doing as they should ,this very well could be connected to the bankruptcy declared by Detroit in 2013, possibly causing them to switch dependent cities who could be switched off the mains to save money, really just an unfortunate accident that arose in difficult times
The truth is best honestly just tell them that you enjoy having something to do with your hands and it lets you be creative while being relatively inexpensive, and if they canāt support it for whatever reason then thatās on them to deal with, what matters is that you make a positive difference for yourself and stick with it, and if that means you build with legos then you do, just stay positive about the fact youāre making a good change for you because really thatās what matters
See I use the classic stain with a color profile that holds true to the original wood (Golden oak for Red oak) wait a few weeks (typically a month after last coat) and spray clear finish (wearing a good painter mask and having good ventilation)
