  1. When I say “devs” In this context I’m referring to the company as a whole. Relatively common way of speaking. They are a game development company after all. Not just specifically to the actual programmers and such. I’m sure those people tried their best with what they were given. I’m also just talking about the external perception. Not really my own opinion.

  2. I blame their marketing department specifically. It's like they had no idea what they were actually selling.

  3. I'm not an Australian but can someone explain why this crisis?

  4. Space to build isn't really the problem and the housing crisis also isn't just happening in Australia. Part of it is about keeping home ownership out of reach for people to make sure they stay poor and exploitable.

  5. This here is a professional internet arguer, folks

  6. For non space nerd matts: Delta V (means change in velocity) in terms of space flight is usually part of the equation to figure out how much propellant (rocket fuel) is needed to achieve a specific maneuver.

  7. Is this because if you're aiming out of the solar system it's a straight shot, but if you aim at the sun it gives a ton of angular momentum you have to counteract?

  8. Something I find fascinating about this whole worldbuilding sub is that, and I'm stating the obvious here but imagine how many worlds and scenarios humans have in there heads.

  9. It's strangely innately human. Look back to ancient cultures like the Egyptians and Greeks, and even the Mesopotamians. Their myths and religious systems were basically fantasy worldbuilding on steroids.

  10. Who cares when you can generate 1000s in a day, you can just pick the good ones.

  11. So then a person has to sort through hours of video to pick out a good 60 seconds every time?

  12. Yes, its cheaper than hiring an entire film production company to shoot an advert for instance.

  13. I mean, you're right, it's just dystopian as hell

  14. the issue is that people take the horrors of war and say: "ukraine should accept any peace offer russia gives them!"

  15. It makes me sad that russian people have been brainwashed into throwing themselves at this war

  16. It just boggles my mind that they (elon) reused the same existing blue checkmark for the subscription plan. Make a different signifier for your ad-free/more-visibility subscription bullshit and leave the blue check how it was. Regardless I'm glad we got to see "Eli Lilly" announcing insulin was free now though

  17. The problem lies in hormone replacement therapy being a gradient that an athlete could be at any point on. Quantizing that so they can fairly compete in either category is a tall order. I don't think it's impossible, but it'll take a ton of research into transitioning and testosterone.

  18. There’s no way forward when our elected officials are almost all bought and paid for. Congress has devolved into a racket.

  19. The storage problem pales in comparison to the carbon emissions problem

  20. A breach in spent fuel containment isn't like a chernobyl explosion, it's just a leak that can be quickly fixed by the people handling it.

  21. I say if you spend that much time in jail when you didn't do it you should get a get out of jail free card. If you did the time the least you can let them do is do the crime.

  22. Sorry about that, buddy. Here's a molotov ready to go. Pick a house, any house, this one's on us.

  23. Most mechanics shops have a fire-safe can like this for oily rags

  24. I gotta agree tbh, it's not worth it to me. I've only found a couple of maps that are actually good with songs I like.

  25. There are definitely tons and tons of good maps/songs. Problem is finding them in the sea of shit, and it's often not worth people's time to wade through it

  26. absolutely, it's especially hard when you're looking for music and artists you like and not just good maps. idk why I'm being down voted for saying it's not worth my time personally

  27. I think it's people who have plenty of time on their hands and love the game, and can't concieve of having better things to do with their time. I used to be one of those people lol

  28. As a child in the nineties I very, very rarely ate dinner without my face stuck in a book. We always had dinner together with the family, no tv or radio, and trying to get me to eat without reading was a battle that wasn't worth the hassle. Only for special occasion dinners was my book confiscated. My family is nice and there was no conflicts that meant I didn't want to interact with them. I just wanted to read my book. I think some people are just like this.

  29. Wanting entertainment while eating is human nature. Even if it's just conversation.

  30. Honestly, that makes sense to me. As much as I want people to get into vr, and as ok as I am with sticking a toaster on my face to do so, most people aren't. The more you can get the form factor down, the more people will be willing to use it often.

  31. 4d6 drop lowest isn't even a 5e rule, at least I haven't seen it in any official book. And I don't see a design question. It's just a meme about min/maxers wanting to have 18 or more and the comments + me are pointing out that 18 is in fact possible.

  32. What? Lol 4d6 drop lowest is the first thing the phb tells you to do for ability scores. Page 13. It goes on to the other options of array and point buy after.

  33. Yeah I can understand wanting to quit, and you can, but cold turkey is kind of not recommended

  34. Even weaning off of cymbalta as recommended was rough for me. Less than the horror stories posted here, but still messed with me for weeks.

  35. Ooh thank goodness. I thought for a moment the poor Owl got blasted to ash. 🥺

  36. Yeah the pile of dust left in his place doesn't exactly scream "harmlessly transported away" lmao

  37. Damn.. You really shouldn't feel bad about setting up a ko-fi or something. I'm sure reddit peoples would be happy to assist. You might feel like you'd be getting handouts or something, but really it's more like a comedian getting a paycheck. You've made a lot of people laugh around here and spread joy every time we're like "that rascal shittymorph, got me again!"

  38. Hold up, what’s a ko-fi? I noticed last year that “ko-fi” was running in the shadows on my phone for like 20 hours a day but I couldn’t figure out what it was or how to get rid of it.

  39. Uhh ko-fi was started as an easy donation platform, as in, "buy them a coffee". Idk about your sketchy background app. It could have been something with a similar name?

  40. Most of my friends have had it 2-3;times, I’ve had it 1 time, no fucks given.

  41. Yeah my friend's mom only had it one time too. She didn't give any fucks either. She died, so she couldn't give any, still nbd tho

  42. It was so fun back in the day, with all the mad speculation and memes. I joined right around 30k members.
