  1. I find it ridiculous for someone who teaches a language but refuses to learn another language.

  2. I have a friend like this. 50, been here 15 years, married to a Japanese woman with 3 kids and can't speak Japanese.

  3. I see where you are coming from but I felt I need to write that I disagree with you, simply because of the temperatures in Melbourne, both ends, the cold wind and the heat. If I had to choose an Australian City it might be Cairns or Mildura. Worked in the almonds next to Mildura and I loved it there. Boring but everything for living.

  4. Cairns is my place in Australia. You don't have to worry about freezing ya balls off in winter

  5. Oooh I did not enjoy Cairns lol. Beautiful scenery around it but the city itself is kind of a dive.

  6. Like most places in Australia, you need a car. It's not a walking town, unlike where I live in Tokyo.

  7. Chatting with small Japanese streamers. Thats pretty much majority of what I do for my studying and its also so much fun. Personally couldnt stand anki. I just watch YT, anime and twitch

  8. I'm starting to think I'm in the wrong sub.

  9. likely to have your panties stolen as well if you are a girl and hang them outside.

  10. Advice for women living on the first floor is to buy a pair of men's underwear from Daiso and hang it with their washing.

  11. Attended a funeral and I am still traumatized by the post cremation ritual. How do you guys deal with it?

  12. Do you mean them pulling bones out instead of ash and telling you what bone it is?

  13. What’s the difference? Make flying from NYC to Amsterdam expensive and the number of asshole tourists will go down. Make hotels in Amsterdam expensive, and the number of asshole tourists will go down. Tomato tomato

  14. Some people might need to fly from NYC to Amsterdam for family reasons. We shouldn't make it harder on them.

  15. I found Osaka to be easier to make Japanese friends in. A hell of a lot easier than Tokyo.

  16. I’ve had people tell me in person that they appreciated it, as otherwise they wouldn’t know the Airbnb review system. Before I had them, had one 4 star that thought that was a great review.

  17. My only bad review was for location. We promote ourselves for being near the airport.

  18. Nah, is something any tourist can do

  19. How much was a chopper flight over Pyongyang?

  20. About $100USD from memory. It’s worth doing if you’re there - the helicopter was pretty janky, an old Mil-6. For seats it just had a couch that was pulled in from god knows where. And there was an aircon unit bolted in, but it didn’t work. So was sweltering hot, due to the storm couldn’t really see anything and it was turbulent as hell. But everybody was laughing and having a great time.

  21. Check? I thought they went obsolete in the late 90s.

  22. I'm sorry to hear about your guest, but what is the other host sub?

  23. I've thought about starting an international school in the prefecture that I am living in currently. However, I am not sure where to start when opening an international k-12 school. Becoming a YouTuber has been on th back of my mind but it seems that the market there too is saturated with English-Made-Easey-esque Youtubers. Is twitch more popular in Japan than YouTube?

  24. If you don't have any debt and don't need to take on much debt, start an international "like" school ASAP.

  29. Can you mention some of the weird things Japanese people believe?

  30. Blood types are like horoscopes. If you look into any Japanese anime or manga, they will tell you their blood type. They all know their blood type, what it means and are surprised most foreigners don't.

  31. Yep. Training was one long homophobic slur.

  32. If you want to study abroad and are worried about butdening your parents, why are you only choosing places with a high tuition cost? Probably because of the language, right? Most EU countries, Taiwan, China and several other countries have NO/very low tuition cost and don’t lack behind in any aspect. If you only speak english, you also don’t need to study right now, you could take a gap year. How about living, traveling and working for a year in a country where you could imagine studying in the future. You can use that time to get work experience, learn the language so you can get accepted into university, and generally just make new and fun experiences. It also won’t burden your parents financially as much, as you will be able to support a huge chunk of your costs through your own work.

  33. He's got the nickname Lukewarm beverage around here

  34. Matey, it's time to plunder those free treasures 🦜

  35. Watch the dumb cunts in the Victorian media talk about us playing a dour brand of football without acknowledging the fact that we know what the opposition have wanted to do the last two weeks, come up with a plan to negate it, and executed it almost to perfection. The game plan doesn't account for our shit inside 50s and horrible accuracy.

  36. You could bet most Vic talking heads watched the Hawks game and won't bother watching the replay of this game and will just repeat what they hear

  37. Hey, I'm sure we'll be seeing Freo in the finals!

  38. I moved here in January, and it took until almost the end of the month to finally get my Yuuchou account opened.

  39. Wow! I can't believe it's actually getting harder to open a bank account.

  40. Without seeing the replay, I have no idea. If the AFL aren't reviewing it, I'd say he's got no problem.

  41. We have a 2 generation house which means we live in a self contained "apartment" on the property and share the front door with guests. I feel people who want to rent a whole house would be put off by this, so I rent the 3 bedrooms as 3 separate listings and the kitchen bathroom and living are shared between them (not me).

  42. I'LL SEE YOU IN COURT!! I've been defamed! lol!
