  1. Many animals going extinct are being primarily preserved in zoos. That being said, they definitely aren’t being given enough space, food, etc. Zoos are for profit, they care about making money by using animals as entertainment, not by providing them adequate environments necessary for them to thrive. When you go to the zoo, the spaces the animals in are so tiny & cramped, they don’t get nearly enough room. Conservatories are great though. Ideally, we wouldn’t have zoos at all, just conservatories, because they’re basically what zoos should be: spaces dedicated to being healthy environments for animals in danger of going extinct

  2. I don’t shave either. My skin is really sensitive, so even if I do all the exfoliating & lotioning nonsense- that really takes up so much time that I’d rather spend doing something else, plus it’s expensive- I still get ingrown hairs. So I got one of those electric trimmers that men use for their balls. I still have hair, it’s just less noticeable, & I spend much less time & money than I used to on body hair. It works for me, & if someone else doesn’t like it they can eat my shit.

  3. Can I ask if this has helped with the ingrowns? I have a skin condition called folliculitis, which causes ingrown hairs whether I shave or not. Shaving/hair removal just makes it 10X worse, to the point I do nothing except trim if I feel like it’s too long. I have tried hair removal creams as well, and those go better than shaving. I do like the idea of being able to keep my leg hair short though, as I am known for having hairy legs lol. Sometimes I just wanna wear a dress without being stared at.

  4. Oh yeah, it totally helped! I remember getting getting one or two afterwards, but not nearly as much. I haven’t had to deal with it for a while though.

  5. I’m an introvert, although I’m not sure what house I’d be in. I get different answers every time I take the test, but it’s usually Slytherin or Hufflepuff.

  6. So I’m not trans, I wouldn’t really know from experience. I can only pass on what I’ve heard from somewhere else. Other people here, with lived experiences, will be able to deduce if it’s viable or not.

  7. Wasn’t college tuition raised to ridiculous prices once black people were allowed to join? I heard that before then, college was much cheaper. Afterwards, it was ridiculously expensive. Because racist assholes were willing to oppress students as a whole as long as they were able to target black people.

  8. I always see people using “a swimmer’s physique.” I guess because swimming as a sport tends to exercise the lean muscles. Being all hunky would actually hinder your swimming speed, so instead swimmers tend to be toned but lean, & they keep their hair in those caps to cut down on resistance in the water. They usually shave too

  9. I’ve ghosted people in the past. I know it’s shitty, & it sucks to be on the receiving end of that. I’m doing my best to work on myself. But in my experience, I’ve mostly ghosted people when I was depressed, ran out of social energy (which somehow still applies to texting), couldn’t figure out what to say, etc. I’m one of those people that tends to self isolate when they’re upset. So if I’m depressed, I’m much less likely to talk to someone & much more likely to withdraw like a hermit crab into my own little shell, & use my remaining energy for every day necessities like eating, showering, etc.

  10. When I was graduating middle school, there was a wall with portraits of everyone in the graduating class, & underneath everyone’s picture there was a quote. One girl’s quote was “What country is Africa in?”

  11. I heard somewhere that one of the best things you can do for someone who is grieving a loved one is to try & handle the things their loved one would have. Basically to do some of the stuff she used to. I guess it’s a way to take care of some of the practical things, because your husband is going to be stressed & upset & grieving, so it would take a lot more energy than usual for him to do every day practical stuff. This also might mean helping out with chores more, but it’s also important that you don’t push yourself. No matter how unhappy your husband is going to be, I’m sure he wouldn’t want you burning yourself out for his benefit.

  12. Give the villain a reasonable, albeit misguided, justification for their villainy. Make them multi-dimensional with likable characteristics. No one is completely bad or good.

  13. Yes! One of my favorite characters has always been Catwoman. She’s made mistakes, she’s done some things I wouldn’t agree with, but she’s more morally realistic than Superman or Voldemort. She’s a villain, she robs banks, but she donates to cat charities. No one’s completely perfect or completely evil, we’re all just somewhere in the middle.

  14. The amount of people here who love my body type is so validating.

  15. Not me, my cousin. He was super into comics, like marvel & DC (still is). He thought that he could run faster at night because the moonlight charged him with energy

  16. Oh my gosh, I had no idea. How ridiculous! Sometimes I wish people would just be straightforward…

  17. Are they referring to the explosive, loud kind of anger? I’m not typically angry in that kind of way. I tend to glare a lot, & sometimes I can say some pretty harsh things. My cousin likes to joke that sometimes when I’m angry I “glare with the power of a thousand suns.” But I’m typically quiet. Sometimes, if I’m trying to psych myself up to do something I’m afraid of, I end up looking angry somehow. My cousin explained it as me sort of stalking into the room like a supervillain on a warpath, very focused on their goal. Since I’m socially awkward & nervous, that often ends up with me stomping around public places, especially if there’s someone nearby that makes me nervous for whatever reason, like if we had an awkward encounter in the past.

  18. Candy! Or, more specifically, gummy nerds. Maybe “Nerd” for short

  19. You might want to post this in the legal sub. I’m sure there’s some sort of recourse for you to take when a manager is trying to get you fired because of a disability. I don’t know what it would be, but they probably would.

  20. This is so relatable. I don’t know where you’re from, but I’m in the US. My mom is also emotionally abusive- a lot of people have come to the conclusion that she’s a narcissist or a psychopath. Maybe both.

  21. I used to be a feminist. But then I realized feminists were only trying to fix women's issues even at the detriment of men. For instance child support on male rape victims. Feminists want to push harder for men to pay child support even when those men are victims. Also "patriarchy" lol

  22. Those were not feminists. As a feminist, I can firmly say that feminism is about equality. We want to be equal, not superior. If you hear a supposed feminist espousing beliefs that imply them to be superior to anyone else, they are not feminists. Period.
