  1. It's not a binary for me. I'm not open about it at work (I'm a librarian, I interact with a lot of different people, I want people to feel comfortable interacting with me in my professional role and not make the religious thing part of the conversation or a distraction.) Because of that, I wear jewellery that's religiously/magically relevant to me but isn't an obvious symbol to other people.

  2. Yes and no - because my practice includes lunar timing, the new and full moons migrate around the days of the week.

  3. I have multiple vaults, because that works better for me (different plugin needs, different tag and property approaches, etc.)

  4. I'm a fan of "have multiple options in the tool box" because sometimes things change - besides different supplies being easier or harder to get after a move, maybe you need something different for the shape of your life and home now, y'know?

  5. Plagiarism checkers aren't super smart: they're looking for "does this string of words appear in the stuff we're searching against." It's up to humans to double check and see if it's a reasonable use of the quote, it's properly cited, etc.

  6. Besides the "there are thousands of deities" challenge here, mapping ancient calendars onto modern ones is a headache and a half.

  7. That's a "what are you using the incense or candles for" - if it's scent and atmosphere, then yes, a wax melt is fine.

  8. As someone with multiple chronic health things (including that one), I've found the most effective magical work (combined with some practical work) is to do magic to find good health care professionals who will listen to you.

  9. My practices have changed over time for a bunch of reasons, including medical ones (where fasting in the sense of avoiding food would be a problem both for the underlying cause reasons and for the impact of medication doses ones.)

  10. My coven is continuing to be hybrid - most discussions, classes, things that can be virtual online, and rituals in person (allowing for local wastewater counts and other signs of lots of illness circulating.)

  11. I’m interested! I tried googling zoom covens and it’s hard to find anything. I just want a witchy meeting space to find likeminded individuals to befriend and learn from

  12. Thanks for your interest! As I noted above, we meet partially in person and partly online.

  13. I have five, because they've got different underlying data structures, uses, and because having visual differences to indicate which one I'm in is very useful to me.

  14. Giving tends to be more individual in Pagan communities just because of the logistics and practical aspects. A lot of people are solitary practitioners (or maybe with their immediate family or a couple of friends). Even a more structured coven (10 - 15ish people) isn't enough to run ongoing charitable projects like a food shelf - not enough people, space, or resources!

  15. There's a long history of specific clothing for ritual - some of which is practical, some of which is about making it easier to be in the right mindset. How much I care about the specifics depends on what I'm doing. I'm going to be more fussy about a more involved or important ritual, but my daily practice stuff is whatever I'm wearing that day.

  16. Wowow you are very particular. Is it ok to try some of these πŸ‘‰πŸ‘ˆ

  17. Do what works for you! I wanted to share what I do - and some of why - because I think the 'why that' is often the interesting part.

  18. One of my favourite low-key practices is building playlists for different things - I have them for different seasons or Sabbats, days of the week (via the planetary days), longer ongoing magical workings, etc.

  19. Wow, those are absolutely wonderful! Thank you so much for sharing. I'll edit the 'music' section in my post to include your playlist idea (giving you credit), if that's okay with you!

  20. Definitely start with something simpler than a coven! People who learn in traditional covens aren't just learning about magic and ritual (though those too), but they're also learning about what's needed to keep a group running, which is a whole skillset of its own. Starting from square one in both things is going to be a ton of work and it's going to be a lot harder to spot the places there might be problems. (Or just figure out how to do things that work for you.)

  21. Hello! I'm Jenett. By day I'm a research librarian, and a lot of the rest of the time I write and self-publish historical fantasy romances (about half of my main characters are disabled or neurodiverse).

  22. Two things I've done (both take some fine motor coordination, but can be done sitting wherever you find comfortable). Both want eggs with white eggshells.

  23. I keep mine long, and I have for something more than 20 years. It's usually somewhere between bra strap length and waist length.

  24. My coven has a name related to the founding group in the tradition, and my particular desires for focus when I hived off. (Phoenix Song).

  25. This is one of those things where thinking through it in more depth would help.

  26. One good way to go at it is start by thinking about what the candle or incense is doing - because the sensible alternatives are going to depend on the purpose.

  27. The way I look at it is that a meditation or vision is one data point - not a line, certainly not a map, absolutely not a "this is the way to frame your entire life from now on."

  28. Besides the other advice about raising energy, another good thing to think about is what avenues that thing has to happen in your life. Jason Miller talks about this as the idea of macro enchantment.

  29. I have all of them broken out as different categories (so I can see when they're due and manage targets independently). And if I do need to pull money from somewhere, it makes it easy to see what's furthest away from now, and therefore going to be easier to replace without further moves.
