  1. Wondering. Where do I get live coverage? For once there isn't any urgent news report happening on TV in Germany

  2. There's not going to be much going on for a few hours at least. Just news talkers talking.

  3. MCPD is a weird agency. I worked there for a brief time but left after less than a year. There's a lot of nepotism and favoritism. I started off on a bad foot with my sergeant when he asked me to take details about a use of force situation out of a report I had submitted. Not cool.

  4. I got raptured but they sent me back. Something about "impure thoughts".

  5. SCORM isn't really a technology for building courses, it's a standard for how courses and LMSs communicate. So like, you can use virtually any technology you want to build courses, but if you want that course to be portable and potentially used on many different LMSs to track progress, reporting, etc, you should SCORM package your course.

  6. Canada, send the Ukrainian soldiers all your timbits!

  7. Neat idea. I pushed code my first 2 weeks that broke our app because of a new SDK integration (the fault of the third party SDK, not me). Now it's been a constant headache due to managers and directors chiming in about the whole thing and it's been ongoing for a few months now.

  8. That’s not what’s happening jn Canada. Something like 30% of the population where I live doesn’t have a family doctor.

  9. My God, immigrants are getting DEGREES and then being welcomed as citizens??!?! The horror.

  10. They’re not degrees, they are diplomas, and not even real ones at that. They meet the bare minimum requirements as a way to give out visas and charge high tuition. They are colleges literally in strip malls. Picture Trump University but for getting student visas.

  11. So solve that. That is the issue. The issue is not immigrants that want to better themselves and their situation in life.

  12. Does anyone know if the $25/hr thing is just during the training or for the entire 3 yr commitment? I'm willing to do a pay cut for a short while, but 3 yrs is a long time to be tied to that pay rate!

  13. The 2020 pandemic was in a “sweet spot” of being dangerous enough to be a threat to people with previous health issues, but not dangerous enough to your typical fairly healthy person. This, coupled with its extremely high rate or transmission, made it disruptive without being something that was constantly on display. For a lot of people their experience with Covid was “I got it, my friends got it, we were sick for a few days, but now we’re better.” If the average experience was “me and all my friends caught it, and now two of them are dead” then it would have been taken much more seriously by the population as whole. Again, deadly enough to kill millions, but not deadly enough that it to feel personal for a lot of people.

  14. This is spot on. I've always said if COVID gave people Ebola like symptoms, everyone would be emphatically calling for lockdowns. COVID hit that sweet spot as you say, where so many people recovered that most people didn't take it as a serious enough risk. It also didn't have any real visibly horrifying symptoms (like disfigurement, etc) that would make people fear it more.

  15. How about the vulnerable people do lock down only?

  16. How about you care for your community and try to do something to help control the spread of a highly infectious virus?

  17. This hits home for me. I just moved from a small company where I was effectively principal engineer on a team of only 5, which also included the CTO. I'm now in a much larger organization as a senior engineer. I've only been here a month and man am I stressed out. Some days are better than others, but overall I'm mentally exhausted by the end of every day. I wake up exhausted. So many moving parts, so much "noise", rushing to meet release deadlines so product team won't get mad at the new guy.

  18. I'm not sure, but I think we should make Trump pay for it (if he had any money left).

  19. A hot load is urgent, whereas a super loads aren’t usually hot.

  20. So people would probably pay a lot for a hot super load, eh? Hrmmmmm......

  21. the chinese government has data on you...what are they really gonna do with it? i'd be more concerned about the people who actually impact my life, who gives a fuck about the chinese it's a distraction

  22. I've been saying this for what feels like ages now. I don't fear what the Chinese government does with my TikTok data. I'll likely never go to China in my life. I definitely fear more what the US based big tech companies and the NSA do with that data. They have WAY more power to affect my life.

  23. One line is the best coffee but it's not a very inviting atmosphere to work, either in SN or Franklinton - just a bit industrial. But excellent coffee.

  24. Qamaria is actually quite amazing. It's a really nice change from the ordinary. And the baked goods are killer.

  25. GrandpaGaming --- I see him on TikTok all the time. Did he get banned from Twitch for going off on someone?

  26. I just went from a low stress, super chill mostly remote position making less than $100k to a fully remote startup operating at light speed making a full $100k more than I was making. So the jobs are out there.

  27. Yeah, you'll be remote from client sites!!! 😜

  28. ROFLMAO - sorry, I guess this isn't funny.

  29. Yes, but most modern software now will run the update for you in the application, not require you to go download a new installer from a website and run that installer to update.

  30. Most Linux software is distributed via repositories, we don't expect our software to 'update itself'.

  31. When did Linux enter the chat? :)

  32. Did you ever find a good solution for this? I just started a new job with the same MBP and I want to use it at my desk with my multi-monitor PC setup. I don't want to be switching cables around, etc. I'm also looking for a dock + KVM solution I think.

  33. I'm really into hosting my frontends on Cloudflare pages, then doing any sort of APIs / servers / DBs on

  34. If you are making around 200k a year like me, you are paying a smaller percentage of your wage for health insurance than you would in any EU country, as it rises proportionally with your wage in most European countries. If I still lived in the UK or Sweden I would be making around £40k -£50k European salaries are a complete clown circus joke compared to the US.

  35. After a 3.5 month search, (Nov - Feb), I'm starting a new role making $100k more than I was at my last company who laid me off.

  36. This whole sub just wants to blame junkies and indians. It is most definitely happening in most major western countries.

  37. As a casual visitor to this sub after it popped up in my feed for no reason, it's very very obvious that this sub is not really about housing. It's about racists blaming non-whites and "the liberals" for all their woes in life.

  38. For the love of God, don't die during a Trump Presidency. Trump would be sure to do something incredibly disrespectful.
