  1. Does this have a deeper meaning or is it supposed to just be weird

  2. It's just how Lions fans felt in the 2000s about Matt Millen's drafting. This answers the question "How much worse could he fuck up at the draft?"

  3. And with the second pick in the 2007 NFL entry draft the Detroit Lions select…a waffle 😧😧😧

  4. Your first sentence reminds me so much of this comic that was posted on this very post.

  5. I liked the story but I also don't understand why he fought to drive home instead of to the hospital lol.

  6. Didn't Norm bomb deliberately? I would have to see what it looked like when he bombed accidentally. Because he would deliberately say things he knew wouldn't go over well with the group he was ostensibly performing for (since these events were televised, this can be seen as funny to the television audience while it's maybe awkward there).

  7. I actually don't think Norm bombed deliberately as much as when he did bomb he relished it and even thought it was funny. He'd tell a joke that he thought was really good but if it got nothing, instead of panicking and going to a different joke, he'd just pause twice as long and smirk.

  8. One of the hardest things for me starting out has been realizing that a joke can work well one day, and then bomb on a different day after it has already worked before. I think theres just so many variables, could be the audience, could be how you felt/delivered that day, tough to say. Regardless, this post gives me encouragement to get back out there lol and you should too

  9. It's the hardest part, because you need more wins to be sure of yourself. You have such a tiny sample size starting out that every mic has such an impact on how you view yourself or your jokes.

  10. But hey there's a barnes and nobles going in I think

  11. I had to wipe my eyes and confirm the date of today's paper after reading your comment. They are opening more Barnes and Nobles?

  12. I used to subscribe before I learned how much these guys are making. I'm delighted for them, but I'll hold onto that $3 per month thank you.

  13. I never understood giving them gift cards! Wild to me

  14. I like my Patreon because I think the bonuses are personally worth it for me, but yeah giving gift cards is lunacy. Maybe back 10-15 years ago when they were struggling, but buying rich comedians a burrito is a waste of charity.

  15. Why would it bother you to learn that many other people also subscribe? How is it any different from any other streaming service? You either like the bonuses you get from the Patreon or you don't. Being mad that someone is running a successful business for a service you'd otherwise enjoy is a level of petty jealousy that I can't fathom.

  16. No, that's the job. Just make sure you're being productive and tweaking small things and taking notes on what works and what you should try. Also keep note of which comics have seen that same joke because you might think a joke is not working but it could be the same people have seen the joke so don't get discouraged about it.

  17. That’s why I said that if it bothers you enough, maybe don’t give Neal as much of your attention and spend your time watching someone that doesn’t irritate you. You can always come back and watch Neal when/if his inaccuracies don’t bother you as much. And if they bother you forever, then that’s okay too. There are some comics that I don’t care for anymore for various reasons but there are plenty more out there that I’ve found and greatly enjoy.

  18. Oh OK, so going off of what you're saying here, why do people share their views on anything at all?

  19. You’ll enjoy comedy a lot more if you don’t need to agree with the comedian all the time. That said, if it really bothers you and you can’t shake your disagreement, then let it bother you and let that inform who you give your attention.

  20. I don't like this take. It's not about agreeing with the comedian per se, it's about not respecting the logic that the structure of the joke is built on. Comedy is all about exaggeration and I personally can laugh at a joke even if I don't share the same view, but the logic of the joke has to hold some weight. If you're going for an absurdist silly joke of course it doesn't need to be logical but when a comic like Brennan is trying to be poignant, that's when the point has to land.

  21. Sorry but if you’re good at your job, you can spot trouble when it walks in the door. And you don’t give trouble a drink when they say they don’t have money.

  22. Who are you talking about? Did you mean to reply to that comment? I don't understand the context.

  23. Okay, that’s good to know thank you! Wanting to buy my first jersey in literally 15 years, so I’m completely lost as to what the process is lol

  24. Get it if you want, I just can't stand for that shit. I will however shell out an incredible amount for one awesome authentic Nike stitched one when they become available, but pepper in some Dhgate variety that unbelievably have stitched numbers for 1/6 of the price.

  25. Reading other comments, the authentic Nike stitched jerseys come out closer toward the start of the season?

  26. TBH that's something I'm not sure of but would like to know.

  27. Love the latest uniform. They smell like Chris Spielman

  28. Do they sell an all stitched version?? This stitched Sewell looks awesome. The iron on doesn’t look as bold or authentic.

  29. It's unconscionable that they charge $175 for heat pressed numbers.

  30. I love the new blues with the fresh white numbers.

  31. So fucking glad they went with white numbers.

  32. I didn't think the #14 looked good aesthetically but these "in person" pictures convinced me that it's extremely sexy. Ra might be my pick as well.

  33. Sorry this thread is years old, but this guy continues to be great. He was awesome in Civil War.

  34. Sorry this comment is an hour old, but yeah he's good. I hated DEVS though, I thought it was terrible. Great premise, awful execution.

  35. I liked it quite a bit (finished it for the first time last night) but the main actress was horrible, almost made it unwatchable. I think it was more the fault of her writing and direction, but she came off as an autistic version of John Mulaney’s Ice T SVU impression. For supposedly being a genius, she had zero foresight or common sense.

  36. Hahaha that's the perfect way to describe it. Horrible performance. And she was in Civil War for a short scene and wasn't even bad.

  37. I'm only seeing bet $10 for $100.

  38. I sort of impulsively went for the #26 Gibbs black vapor FUSE just because of the way it looked aesthetically. He's also a favorite of mine, but you're right, he could move on. I already have Hutch and St. Brown's jerseys from last year that I alternate on game days. Also, I'm a drummer, and I plan on wearing the black jersey when I play gigs.

  39. If you wear a Gibbs jersey just don't fumble the sticks during the 3rd song.

  40. I mean the throwback ones, the minalmalist ones we usually wear against the pack or on Thanksgiving

  41. The face he makes at the end is so bizarre.

  42. I'm not usually gullible but I actually believed that he didn't know we were getting new jerseys.

  43. I think most Lions fans aren't used to winning yet, therefore look at stuff negatively at first. Sarcasm and jokes don't do well in this sub. It's a shame, but winning ways will hopefully cure that and get more people to lighten up around here.

  44. I mean it was a pretty stupid and hacky joke on my part, but I wouldn't say it makes me a weirdo. If that's weird I don't know what to call my collection of Barbara Streisand bobbleheads.

  45. There’s always one guy who can’t see the letter D without being a weirdo

  46. Weirdos are people who make jokes apparently.

  47. Not really for him. It's been consistently Birbiglia. I've seen at least half a dozen posts on Reddit alone about the name and it's always him.

  48. Same for me. It's Bigs. Even still used the otter pic lol.

  49. Patrice might be a bad example because I think he was especially a dick, but the reason comics bust each other's balls so much is because it's a sign of respect. It's trusting each other to know they don't actually mean what they say, and also trusting that they don't view each other as weak victims. It can be fun and endearing. I get great joy watching this continuous verbal jabbing between Jon Lovitz and Bill Burr:

  50. I don't agree that Patrice advocated being "cruel to almost everyone," as though he was walking around being an asshole to randos. That Comedy Cellar group that was on Opie and Anthony had known each other for years/decades in some cases, and so they were expert at cataloguing each other's faults and teasing one another. In fact, if someone knows you well enough that they can immediately describe your foibles in a funny way, it's arguable that's an act of love and caring.

  51. No, it was pretty widely known that he was a dick, even to non comics. His friends have openly admitted that. There's a story about him cruelly ragging on some girl because she had cerebral palsy, I think it was a date or a friend of Bert Kreischer's. Now, everyone has their bad moments, and I'm all for cruel jokes as long as the irony is understood and everyone knows it's just a joke. But Patrice seemed to have some bully-ish moments.

  52. Also this whole experiment ignores the business training and certification he had beforehand which absolutely cost money to obtain

  53. Right. It's nonsense. It's like if Bill Gates called camping in a tent starting over. You can't just dissolve yourself from all the resources you already have access to.

  54. I've been a constant supporter of the black jerseys. I thought they looked great back in the day, and I think these new ones look amazing too. People are way too emotional about the 2000's when we were horrible. The color of the uniform has literally zero bearing on the success today. Especially because these are ALTERNATE jerseys, not our main. Our main doesn't have any black.

  55. I think there's a far bigger contention that are against the black alts because they've been overdone across the league, and I happen to be in that camp. But as far as your other point, someone on here suggested the long lion helmet last year could come back. I'm with you, that thing was a thing of beauty and I think it's foolish if they retired it.

  56. So glad I’m not the only one. That’s why I appreciated the neutral tones with lions logos.

  57. Are you still talking jerseys here? Because there will always be more subtle t shirts available at any point. I like the white long lion t shirt I just got. Looks like any other graphic t I could wear with jeans.

  58. Already stated this before in a longer post but... the Lions didn't wear black at all during the 2008 season... They DID have a certain long-haired TE that season, though. Might explain why he was so passionate about landing this job in the first place. As a man, that season probably still burns in him.

  59. I tried looking at the uniform history and it saw that they were featured until 08, but couldn't confirm if that was accurate. I guess maybe it was 07 but either way, Dan was there during the dark times so for me it makes it easier to swallow that he apparently wanted them back.
