  1. Thats easily 3+hour setlist

  2. I would love if they continued the 2 night no repeat concept, but they have to stop playing in the round in stadiums.

  3. Finally someone who isn't just trying to combine the Loads into one album, which is about as ridicuous as trying to combine Kill and Ride.

  4. And they changed their mind probably cause they figured each album was strong enough on its own, also double sales, no brainer decision if you ask me

  5. Cant be depressing or too heavy for a wedding, so that rules quite many Metallica songs out, but I think Hero of the Day could work well.

  6. The Floor tickets are sold out, that's why - they are all resale prices right now. You can probably find a cheap one at the last minute.

  7. This is so annoying, on last leg of the tour it was always sold out on the floor but then you see the videos and it looks like half the floor is empty. Is it because of the stage in the round?

  8. floor at Metallica is never not sold out, in my mind. It just spreads out due to the stage.

  9. Remix is terrible, everything is made far too bright and trebly. All nunances and dynamics are gone. The original had a perfect dark mix, with a suble bass. I'll never listen to the remix again.

  10. Probably not so hot but these are my main criticisms of Metallica:

  11. James and Lars know how to bash in unison, and James is good at putting a melody overtop. But other than that, they have a very limited conception of what guitar, bass, and drums can do.

  12. limited conception conception? well at least they are a million times more successful in their craft than those who claim to know everything.

  13. I wanted to be like James Hetfield. Jimi Hendrix and Jimmy Page too I guess, but mostly Hetfield.

  14. James Hetfield, although fortunately that seems to be changing slowly.

  15. I've never heard the Metallica Symphony releases. Not sure if I am missing a lot.

  16. You are. Smoke a joint and listen front to back through some good headphones. Metallica pioneered the "rock band meets symphony" everyone tried to copy after them, only it was done right just that first time.

  17. Nice to see another one like myself, my favorites are Metallica and Floyd, best live albums of all time for me are S&M and Pulse

  18. It’s weird but if I’m honest, I went to an AWMH acoustic show. Expensive ticket for charity and I was happy to pay it. However, I found myself wanting to rock out. I knew I was witnessing something special but just could not turn the corner. And, yes, James was in a mood. He was having sound issues. He seemed to loosen up as the night went on. It was the best view I ever had of the band being a smallish venue. I would not say the show was ‘bad’ by any means, it was just different. Understandably it lacked the fire of a regular evening with Metallica. I realized that an acoustic Metallica was great to hear but not very exciting to see. Believe me, I’m not too shallow to appreciate the acoustic versions of Metallica classics. I enjoy them a lot. I just NEED all the power of Metallica live..plugged in.

  19. Was it the 2018 San francisco show?

  20. gave it a few listens a year ago, and i haven’t really been back. it’s a solid 7, but some of the songs just drag. it’d be a whole lot better if it was 60 minutes long.

  21. Disagree on Inamorata, that song did not need to be 11 minutes long. It thinks it's Orion or Outlaw levels of epicness, but the main riff is just too weak. The chorus is alright and the interlude leaves something more to be desired, but the post interlude harmonies are by far the best part.

  22. They have actually said that their "Tribute" is to One as much as Stairway.

  23. I was a little disappointed they skipped the first half of Funeral which is my favorite part but I understand because they don't have a keyboard player and it would have been difficult to duplicate that on just guitar

  24. I agree, I was hoping they would do the intro in a similar way they do in One and other songs of theirs, with a duet of clean rythm and lead guitars. But the cover is already 8 minutes long so I guess they figured that it's already plenty without the intro.

  25. They are just not big enough of a band where James Dolan would bother with them. He's only interested in the biggest acts in music. Muse is not going to sell out the Sphere at an average price of $750. Not happening. I saw Muse in Toronto and ticket was $80.

  26. What about Metallica? They are huge in the States obv but I wonder if they could actually fill many nights in the Sphere

  27. Perfectly solid album. Every song is solid, but that's it, not much better than that. There are moments of greatness in every song, but also duds.

  28. Neither did Sean Bean, who was pretty much the selling point of their pitch to HBO.

  29. Most of the blackened versions of the albums on vinyl have hidden messages etched onto the wax. I remember one said vinyl up your ass!

  30. My Justice vinyl says "And Vinyl for all" and Black says "You just stood there spinning vinyl", Pretty neat.

  31. As a guitarist and someone who's trying to learn production, I've noticed that there's always an awkward empty vaccum in Metallica 's production. I don't know if it's bad equalization but the instruments don't sound well balanced as compared to say Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Megadeth or Iron maiden where every instrument contributes to the sound.

  32. I just think Lars and James want their respective drums and guitars very heavy on both low and highs, with little breathing room for everything else.

  33. Kirk is a blues player trapped in a metal band. All his solos lean into feeling and has moved away from technical prowess.

  34. Metallica is actually a blues originated rock band, stuck in an endless pit of metal expectations.

  35. It has to be Eye of the beholder but that one still absolutely SLAPS.

  36. Mexico City has the best setlist
