FingerGungHo

  1. Terminators are a bit terrifying with their 3++ but dreadnoughts can deal with them due to brutal 3. Typhon is also a fun option due to rending 4+ and brutal 4.

  2. One of them tried to put a flier in my mail box before last kuntavaalit. I politely told him to fuck off, and judging by his eyes I’m fairly convinced that there was more bone than brain behind them.

  3. I think the part that people seem to miss about Horus' fall that is outlined both in Horus Rising & False Gods is that it seemed like Horus had been slipping frankly before either book started and that the events of both books just made things worse & happen far faster.

  4. The problem is not the fall per se and what the reasons for it are, but how the personality of Horus shifts between the books, and how the fall is executed. McNeil is a good at writing some things, but his characters feel like they are on rails and super dumb because he doesn’t care to write elaborate motivations. It’s all just super ham-fisted. For example, Loken knows Erebus wrecked the diplomacy with Interex but does nothing, and Horus is found weeping with the corpse of Temba in his lap. His friend who he left decades ago to manage Davin, while his captain and son Verulam Moy’s body is still cooling in the same room, but Horus doesn’t even seem to notice. It’s like all the characters just do the dumbest things possible in every scene without explanation as to why. It’s like comedy with a serious tone.

  5. What I read from this is that chaos is already prepping Mortarion, and I think that was the intention too, judging by writer interviews on how chaos works. Very well written piece of text. I think I’ll buy the book too.

  6. Hear me out, World Eaters, free Chain axes for the +1 strength & as long as you successfully charge you get +1 attack even if disordered.

  7. Yeah, World Eaters assault marines are easily the best overall, it’s not even close.

  8. This seems to be the majority dissenting opinion. There are still misogynists but I haven't seen those arguments be that widely spread. Most people are just mad at the way this was done and the gaslighting.

  9. Why is this change such a big deal then? It’s minor lore change at best and affects the setting or the tabletop not at all.

  10. Riiiight. Must be why there has been similar outrages on other such retcons. Let’s not kid ourselves, if the announcement had been that there are female Necron leaders, nobody would be complaining.

  11. Kids back then were learning to fix cars and hunt, intelligence is different depending on your needs so they never did well on the iq test but kids today wouldn’t be good at the things you had to do back then

  12. Being better at hunting and fixing cars does not equate smarter, although I’m not sure those things are even true. Kids used to do those things more, but how do they compare to kids who hunt or fix cars today?

  13. I mean, a kid who can fix a car and essentially almost be self sufficient in my view is “smarter” than a kid who knows more facts and is better at algebra but gets a panic attack if he cant find his ipad

  14. It really isn’t about knowing more facts or algebra memorialization, it’s the ability to absorb a torrent of facts they are fed constantly, question them and put the learnings into use in problem solving. The saying ”life was simpler back then” is mostly true. Well, now it’s not, and the kids too have to deal with it. A kid may panic over an ipad simply because that’s his or her main tool for finding things out efficiently. They could for example want to find a YouTube video that explains what is wrong with the car and how to fix it. Then they’ll go check where to order the tools from quickly and cheaply.

  15. Turns out that turning civilians into weird chaos drugs doesn't contribute much to the overall war effort.

  16. You’d think that, but Horus’ plan was to cause so much mayhem that he could sink Terra into the warp. Fulgrim did exactly what he was supposed to do.

  17. And this is why Chaos in 40k needs an Everchosen style leader who can slap the Primarchs around. Without their own Archaon they'll just fail due to infighting.

  18. It’s been so strange seeing all of Europe complaining about the hottest winter ever, and reactors heat during spring. Meanwhile us nordics/scandies are having so much cold comparatively

  19. It’s indeed been comparatively cold and snowy for the past three or so years. Permanent snow cover used to come in late December or early January, but now it’s been here from October onward and seems to last until late April, just like back in the 90’s. I want my global warming back please. /s

  20. Everyone simps for the P-51 mustang but fuck me F-86 Sabres are the COOLEST jet of the 20th century

  21. Americans simp for P-51. Supermarine Spitfire is the most iconic fighter ever.

  22. People.hate us cuz they ain't us

  23. Well for me it's a thoughtless thing to do, like locking the door or closing the fridge, I don't think about it I just do it.

  24. Just like when you slip those envelope sized plastic bags into random people’s mailboxes

  25. Good, people who really don’t like it should get out, reconsider their thinking, and then come back or stay tfo if they are so sensitive. This is a very minor ”retcon”. Why do you even need a dedicated male faction? Really, what is it?

  26. Interesting, I always assumed that Lapin Kulta was the most popular. I'm certainly a big fan of it.

  27. Lapin Kulta is super divisive. I think it might be the worst of the bulk beers, with Karhu and Sandels being the best.

  28. No need to sue. In this case it is in high interest of ISS partners to make this go away very very amicably for PR reasons and well maintaining good will in general. Compared to ISS operating budget, fixing that roof and house (heck buying whole new one had it come to that) is peanuts. Plus I think it might end up being Japanese footing the bill. I think some reports are it's technically theirs. Anyway Outer Space Treaty obligates Japan to pay for damages via liability clauses.

  29. I can imagine some JAXA mid-level manager in Tokyo chuckling in disbelief at 8am when the first thing he sees in his spending approval workflow is this.

  30. Jos ei muuta niin saa ilmaseks mainattua bitcoinia telkkarin prossulla

  31. Saa ainakin yhden bitcoinin universumin lämpökuolemaan mennessä

  32. I buy this exact lure every once in a while because it just looks too good and I lose it in 1-3 casts every single time. Never caught a fish with it lol

  33. Boy, do I have a trick for you! Saw the lip off, just do it. Then cast it upstream and reel in very very slowly with a lot of long stops. If that doesn’t work, reel it in faster with shorter stops. If you’ve got trouts feeding on fish nearby, they will quite often take it.

  34. This is more like it! The previous comment makes him sound like some reverse ouroboros, coming out of its own ass.

  35. Ainahan se on jossain vaiheessa päällimmäisenä, alimmaisena ja sivummaisena. Joskus kaksikin kertaa. Muu on ruuan haaskausta.

  36. Our cuisine might not be popular internationally but atleast we like it lmao

  37. Yeah, there’s a reason for why there aren’t that many Finnish cuisine restaurants even in Finland. Imagine paying 20€ for a traditional karjalanpaisti or läskisoosi. Most of the dishes are bland poor man’s versions or straight up famine food, with the only spices being salt and black peppers. I hate to say it, but the foreigners are 100% right this time.

  38. There's a big difference between traditional and modern Finnish cuisines. Modern Finnish cuisine is a fusion between many cuisines I feel, with a heavy emphasis on Nordic ingredients (different fishes, potatoes, vegetables, berries, etc.). I'd argue that almost everyone would rate it very high. But I guess that's not classified as "Finnish cuisine". We Finns should not be so vocal about bashing our traditional foods online as we only further grow the prejudice against our cuisine. I'm sure we are missing tons of potential tourists because of these prejudices. Instead we should market the excellent restaurant culture in major Finnish cities. Trust me, I've lived abroad in different countries and travelled the world. Good Finnish restaurants on average are really really good. Much better than e.g. Spanish ones. And yet Spain gets a lot of foodie tourists but Finland doesn't. I'm sure the situation is same in all major Nordic cities. We value high quality ingredients. Berries and many vegetables taste way better in north than in south due to bright summer and cold winters.

  39. Yes, well, it’s not like there isn’t modern cuisines in other countries. Bad restaurants shouldn’t be confused with cuisine anyway. The problem with modern Finnish cuisine is that there is about 0 recognizeable dishes.

  40. I’ve probably got to rethink a lot of the lore tbh. Mostly around how they got off Istvaan. Initially I was thinking something along the lines of grand theft storm-bird and the stealing a frigate or destroyer to get away but I’m not sure.

  41. I had them going into underground caverns, waiting it out only to be ”rescued” afterwards by Alpha Legion, who uses them for their own purposes. Got a neat little EC, SoH, WE, DG force planned and partially built. Not gonna use all of them all the time of course.

  42. Main reason it’s at the bottom here is because Peru and its neighbors are not part of the responses, unlike Finland which is saved by its inclusion.

  43. I’ve been to Finland and Peru, give me Peruvian food any day over the bland watery biowaste the Finns call food. Saying this as a Finn.
