10. Undeniably their best quality song. In my opinion, one of the best songs ever written. Always makes me tear up, the desperation in Matty’s voice. Nothing else really sounds like it
I will argue in favour of x (his second album). It’s absolutely fantastic and in my opinion slightly better than the first. But yes, thereafter there’s a gradual decline in quality
When asked about his role in Jaws 4, he said: “I have never seen it, but by all accounts it is terrible. However, I have seen the house that it built, and it is terrific.”
Opening with Greta’s version of the 1975 followed by the Man Who Married a Robot, then they would pretend like they’re going to play Robbers but instead they play an out of tune off beat rendition of Agadoo by Black Lace. Following that they’d go into I Like America and America Likes Me but with the lyrics of People. Following that, they’d get a quarter of the way through The Sound but then they’d shrug, walk off stage, and never return. The show is now just Greta’s version of the 1975.
I think it shows how clever they are, and how good they are as songwriters, that they can have a part this catchy and NOT use it as the actual ‘chorus’
The only time I heard them in public was a club in Philly the night of their show I went to. And it was some DJ who played like a edm remix of robbers 😭
Saw them for the first time at Lolla back in 2017 with my long term partner who has since passed. Her favorite song was change of heart just cause of the sound being so dreamy. Saw them again this year the first night in Manchester. Matty saying “now don’t get nostalgic,” before playing it really put my last 7 years into perspective for the better.
Apparently Christopher Nolan stays away from a lot of media exposure. Like he has zero social media presence, doesn’t even use a computer most of the time. Probably allows him to be a lot more objective about the actors he chooses because he’s not even remotely aware of pop culture news or tabloid/paparazzi shit, he only cares about on screen ability
Sorry but the anthology tracks are FAR better than the OG album on first listen, and a huge part of it is down to the amount of Dessner tracks

I don't think I've seen a bad movie with him in it. Or at least, whatever part he played was always memorable.

10/10. One of their best. Heartbreaking. Might cry to this tonight

I had a dream where they literally did that during ‘The Sound’

Could someone give me a wee summary of his involvement w the band?

So sorry for your loss mate ❤️
my sister's favourite 'game' is to hear a new song I've written and say 'oh, that sounds EXACTLY like....'
take your time
