Generally it is best to have an entire romset for Mame. From my understanding, lots of mame roms reference files in other roms, so if they aren’t there the games won’t run.
Install Daijisho. You can then have your Retroid automatically boot up into Daijisho whenever turned on. Then add only the ps1 console to Daijisho. Then you will be booting directly into your ps1 gamelist.
I second this sentiment. If you don’t know how to unzip a file (I mean, have you heard of Google?), and you don’t have the patience to learn how to do so, then probably best to try a different hobby. There is still a long way to go after unzipping a file… I’ll take my banana sticker now.
Don't throw it away. You can replace the sticks parts if you like or, and this is new, check out the new 8bitdo replacement stick. They also have a pcb to convert the controller to Bluetooth for Switch, PC and Android.

Is the replacement stick you are referring to here the GameCube style stick?
