Having your back turned also makes it more difficult for them to grab it for a jump ball. Cedrik Wilson was thrown 38 times last year. Braxton was thrown to 33 times. Durham Smyth was thrown to 43 times. Tyreek was thrown to 171 times. Waddle was thrown to 104 times. So as you can see not a lot of targets for WR 3,4, and TE.

He’s not thrown the ball because he’s not good. He’s 28 entering the tail end of his career. He’s never going to be anything more than a glorified punt returner which he’s pretty average at.
