I needed this today

  1. Energy from renewables can be stored with heat, gravity, compression, chemical or other systems.

  2. You cleverly ignored that he wasn't saying they don't exist. These solutions, while possible, are always low energy density, horrifically expensive, or would lose out to alternative uses of the material (chemical batteries). Solar and wind simply cannot produce base-load energy, while nuclear can. Solar and wind with energy storage is great when it can be stored from peak sun in the morning and afternoon for when it's needed in the night, but this still ignores the base load energy we need.

  3. A reddit user adjusting views with the advent of new information? That is actually a first lol. Well uhh have a great rest of your day!

  4. Because you've misinterpreted what I said. And run off on a tangent. In a committed relationship it is absolutely one partner's responsibility to try and meet the other's needs...otherwise there is no partnership. In a number of arenas- not just sex.

  5. You're wasting your time. Just on look at the post history and subs posted in is enough to see why responding does nothing. Only militant, one sided responses that are anti-male. You know where we are lol

  6. Ripping off the band aid that fast probably took skin with it.

  7. Not even a fish would get caught if it kept it's mouth shut. No officer, I don't have any questions to answer.

  8. Seniors in my office and sector are starting at 110k currently with a 15-20k bonus

  9. Would that be considered VLCOL? Not sure if that's good, relatively speaking.

  10. You can also just turn on airplane mode right after clicking the link to avoid the paywall

  11. If you want to go the Army route, as long as you achieved a 120 GT score on the ASVAB and have a 4 year degree from an accredited school, you can sign up as a college option OCS candidate through your recruiter. If accepted, you have to go to military basic training first and then on to Fort Benning, GA for Officer Candidate School. If you pass, you'll be a newly minted 2nd LT in the Army. As someone else mentioned, you can quick ship and may be even get a little bonus out of it.

  12. Studies like this tell us that the stigma that you have in society when you're fat, is not learned. If we see more studies like this in the future, we will eventually be able to confirm that being overweight has a significant detriment to your life's outcomes: relationships, career trajectory, perception.

  13. Mine was 30k in my name, 42k in my mom's. It's totally fucked. This is what happens when the largest government in the world by budget says they'll guarantee student loans with a blank check

  14. The problem isn't student debt, it's people getting into student debt without defining a path to paying it back (with their degree's future prospects) + living in a way they find financially comfortable, mentally rewarding, or both. Education is among the greatest investments any population can make.

  15. This was going to be my exact reply... COVID took out, sadly, the weakest health systems among the population, which many viral infections are capable of doing. In shape, few comorbidities, and under 55 (working age) basically meant you were coming out the other end fine, with few having lasting damage. These people who COVID took were primarily not in the workforce anyway, and I'll always be pissed they didn't distinguish the OF COVID or WITH COVID problem, completely muddies the data.

  16. Spending an hour outside in the sun also causes cell mutations that could lead to cancer and heart disease.

  17. Yeah, it's a garbage article and title. Makes it scarier than it is, not to mention EVERYTHING increases your risk of cancer and heart disease, it seems.

  18. What the fuck my guy You've hijacked a guys suicide thread and spun anothers suicide in to something about you like with full offense you are fucked in the head if you think the world revolves this much around you, Pills now you insufferable fuck

  19. I always forget that I could be posting alongside 12 year olds, thankyou for the reminder.

  20. I am run family business. It is really small business. My part time is working on my accounting degree. Any job starting at $15 / hour. Even high school kids. Inflation cause me pay high school kids $12/ hour for part time job.

  21. What do you consider an influencer? What about someone who makes media content? Technically they're influencers nowadays, many pushing their own brands through social media. But some put out good content. Even some tiktokers do so. What is the difference between them and someone else who got famous in a more traditional way?

  22. Were you just waiting for an opportunity to type this all out? From a simple message like that? l o l

  23. Or at the very least, zero drop (heel is NOT higher), wide toe box, flexible shoes. This allows the foot to move naturally as if it’s barefoot. For most adults too, wearing minimalist shoes is healthier too. Humans didn’t evolve (or created) to wear sneakers with arch support. The human foot has been fine for millions of years without the modern sneaker.

  24. We didn't evolve to walk on concrete and linoleum, I think they still have a place in this world we've built.

  25. Tell me you've never dealt with the mental aspects of an eating problem without telling me you never dealt with the mental aspects of an eating problem.

  26. This assumes endless growth. Endless growth when resources are finite is not realistic. its bad for the climate. The fact that everyone expects you to make more money than the year before (ie growth) is by default an inflationary posture. Steady profitability imo is a better more sustainable goal.

  27. I don't agree with this. An economy that is built to stagnate would be treacherous. A raise in your job would mean a cut in pay from a colleague of equal value, or a similar cut somewhere in the value chain. Getting one job from being previously unemployed would mean that there is now one person unemployed, who then would need to do the same. To add on to this, there would be no technological development, as that requires growth, no larger amounts of college students, no new life saving drugs... many consequences.

  28. Sounds to me like you just want to justify sticking your head in the sand and pretending everthing is fine.

  29. Except when you realize that the creators of advanced tech and researchers are the native population of these countries that are having birth decline, native Japanese, native South Koreans, Italians, USA etc. Sub Saharan Africa, despite their issues, have an insane birth rate that will not level off any time soon, expanding their billions of people. Who, really, is the target of this birth decline? Because the future development of technologies that will ultimately reduce the effects of climate change will clearly not have enough offspring to carry on this development. And by-and-large it's not coming from Niger, Somalia, or the DRC.

  30. If you aren't one of the unlucky ones who pass away a couple years before retirement.

  31. A 30yo on this sub had a stress heart attack at work...

  32. Don’t quit, go on medical leave. Use that time to go over your opt without the additional stress of worrying about medical bills.

  33. OP seems to be deluded. Above getting downvotes says "the firm doesn't deserve me using their health insurance for medical leave". Actually brainwashed if he does this.

  34. My firm is great and don’t deserve that. They need to replace me ASAP. I don’t have any more benefits I need from them other than just be done with them altogether. I have insurance via my wife I can transition to.

  35. Given your situation, NOT using their insurance for medical leave could be the next worse decision you make. Seriously, don't be defensive due to downvotes. Not using it is a TERRIBLE idea.

  36. So good at your job that you automate yourself out of it. C-suite love this one simple trick!
