This did suck in some ways for Tennessee but it does look like the program is improving for the better. This Music City Bowl win capped a dream season for Purdue. Tennessee could compete for a NY6 in a year or two. They should look to the future.

I’m not a NDSU fan but this situation reminds me of one back in high school where this one school won the 8 man title every year. They had more than enough guys to play 11 man but would cut 50+players after spring practice so they could claim they didn’t have the numbers. The coaches and athletic staff never left and won accolades every year.

The “most thrilling win of the postseason”, a win that puts you in the same class as Oregon State, BYU and San Diego State…..who also beat Utah. No disrespect to Whittingham but there’s a big difference between losing to a stacked Georgia and needing a Herculean effort to beat Utah.

Calzada seems like a Harsin type guy and selling Caleb Williams on Auburn when he seems focused on playing QB in the NFL would’ve been difficult since they haven’t had produced a starter at QB in the NFL since Cam. But whose to say Calzada can’t change that now that he’ll be the guy.
The cutoff at 8 keeps out a 3rd and 4th SEC team for sure and allows another conference to get in a second team. The idea of a 12th seed beating your primary contender is a night mare to these commissioners.
