  1. As someone who made this transition last year. I would say the grass is greener on the other side. I went from Rural Carrier at USPS to RPCD at UPS.

  2. Holy shit, roll it back, and maybe I can get a diad that doesn't freeze 10 times a day and has 5g. Lol.

  3. You don't partake in the 2 o'clock reset?!? And then again at 5. 😅

  4. I’m not looking for reasons to be upset someone literally broke into our house. This is an extremely basic concept. Typically delivery drivers leave the package on the porch yes? We even have a cover over the front porch…

  5. The driver skipped delivering the package to the other 8 entry doors because their internal intuition told them that the 9th door would be unlocked. At which point, they opened the unlocked door (which could have been avoided had it been locked) proceeded to "break into your house" to deliver the package to the location which they thought was the safest and most secure. Following this action, they proceeded to capitalize on their break-in to the fullest extent by exiting the premises, leaving everything untouched, unaltered and continuing to their next stop. Except of course... Successfully completing the delivery.

  6. I have no idea if everything is untouched because we aren’t there, so we will have to see, regardless it’s concerning. The house is a bit run down so I’m not going to report it or anything just because I will give them a rare benefit of the doubt in this case, but even so, I have never, in over 2 years having this house, has anyone felt the need to go inside the house to make a delivery, especially in the living room… I imagine you wouldn’t be happy if they walked into your house and put it in the middle of your living room…

  7. I don't know... I might not be too perturbed by the driver walking into my clearly unlocked door to successfully deliver the package containing live creatures seeing as how my living room is climate controlled and safe from the elements. Seeing as how I would obvously initially be upset that these live creatures weren't delivered on time. Nevermind the fact that I'm not home to receive them.

  8. In 2008 I was a freshman in college drunk, stoned, and hungover at 3am loading those trucks misloading like a mfer. It's not this deep. Don't ship grandmas ashes.

  9. Did you actually read all of that? I commend you hahaha.

  10. I was hired in September of 2023... Thank you very much! 😂

  11. You're great. Don't fret. The drivers appreciate you and your good attitude. Personally I have a UPS store pickup daily. Unless I'm dead ass tired, I appreciate and enjoy the conversations whether they be small talk, long winded or just about complete bullshit. It's a nice break in the monotony.

  12. This is crazy you guys are going through this. My center is so short staffed. They were supposed to lay of all the 22.4’s in like March of last year but didn’t do it because of staffing issues. Can’t even get off the street hires to stay. If anyone wants a driving job come to Denver Colorado.

  13. I was an off the street driver in Denver! You're not wrong about the staffing, except I think my center might be one of the few that's sufficiently staffed. For better or for worse.

  14. As someone who went from being a Rural Carrier to a UPS Driver in the past few months, I can confidently say it's definitely a different type of stop.

  15. I am assumings UPS stops also include dropping off at post offices and businesses that get a lot of shit right?

  16. Yeah, there's absolutely bulk stops. Not every route has those or the way that they dispatch, a route that typically doesn't have a bulk stop may have a bulk stop the next day.

  17. gotcha, so when it's updated to be out for delivery that doesn't necesarily mean it'll be delivered? why would the next update say that it was a failed attempt to be delivered?

  18. Could have been on the wrong truck.

  19. What others have said is pretty much the norm I've come to realize. While it is possible to get hired off the street as a driver, it's incredibly rare. I am speaking from experience as I am one of the fortunate few who was presented such an opportunity. From what I've gathered, going from seasonal driver position to a full time driver might be even more rare.

  20. I'm eating a double scoop cup of free ice cream for lunch today.

  21. I got hired off the street, but yeah you right. I lucked the fuck out.

  22. I'm a new hire (not seasonal) from the post office! Even managed to qualify early. But there are two others in my center from the Post Office and a handful from Amazon.

  23. Thanks! FT driver, not seasonal. Technically I was hired on as a "Combination Driver aka 22.4", but that position got converted into RPCD (regular package car driver) as part of the new contract.

  24. Do you start off as a loader, or did you get a driver position?

  25. As someone else said, typically you start off as a loader. However, I was extremely lucky in getting hired off the street for a driver position.

  26. I can’t memorize these?l for the tens?

  27. I can't speak to that. The facilitators at my intergrad expected us to remember the what, the why & a summary. You'd have to ask your facilitators.

  28. How did you summarize them like how detailed are they looking for in them

  29. I didn't. I tried to memorize them word for word. I recorded myself reading each point. Each point would be it's own track so I could play it on repeat until I had it memorized. Kinda like that new favorite song you listen to 700 times until you know it word for word.

  30. That's a good attitude to have. You probably won't make it past security, but it's definitely worth a shot. From what I hear & have read on here... It's stupid rare, but in my area they have been hiring off the street drivers pretty consistently. My intergrad class consisted primarily of off the street drivers, with like six of us from the same center.

  31. Well, if this works out for you like it did me (so long as I make it past probation). Understand that it's going to be hard before it gets easy. Kiss those short days goodbye haha.

  32. I think rpcd. I applied for a combination driver, but I've been told/read that that position is getting converted

  33. Damn, thanks for checking up. Didn't ever end up getting a copy of my road test, but the facilitators reached out to my local HR with better success than on my end. And I fucking passed. Yay, fuck the post office! Ha.

  34. Depending on how far north you are. I've had nothing but great luck with Sill-TerHar Mazda.

  35. What city is that in? (Interested)

  36. Broomfield, right off of highway 36 & highway 287

  37. As someone who's in a similar situation as you, I found myself asking myself that same exact question. I'm damn near 35, no degree and currently am employed by USPS.

  38. Wait, wait, wait... Are you implying that you guys don't make $170k/yr?!?! Well, what the hell! Here I thought applying for the combination driver position to get the hell away from the post office was the play. Obviously I'm being facetious. I am still gonna try to bail on the post office though ha.

  39. Mailman here too and people are talking about it in my area. I give UPS much respect because they bust their ass. Having to drive that huge truck & worried about where to park it, working super late, having someone else load their trucks and not knowing where a package is…etc. You start out at the bottom at UPS and work your way up like they do at the post office. I’ve also been told (by my local UPS driver) that time off is hard to get too.

  40. Yeah. I know I'm in for my life getting flipped upside down, but I already applied for and received a conditional job offer for 22.4 (which I've heard is going away). I'm getting sent to Phoenix for training in 2 weeks. Based off every post I've seen here, I'm stupid fucking lucky for that opportunity.

  41. I was hired off the street. Zero preload or local. Was 22.4 for 3 months, 4 month moved to RCPD. Been RCPD for over three years. 😇 This isn’t the military dude. Yeah it’s a tough job and not everyone can do it but your going a little overboard.

  42. That's me! So long as I can remember the 5's & 10's! Also passing training when UPS sends me off to Phoenix next week will probably help too. However, I'm coming from the the postal competitor.

  43. Yes. I bought tickets in another state for half the cost of I were to buy them locally and flew 3 hours to see the show. Worth it.
