  1. You’re right that he didn’t make that point on the most recent pod, but Bill has said exactly what you’re saying a bunch of times. On multiple pods he’s explained how he thinks Lebrons success winning championships and influencing a new generation motivated MJ to cooperate and remind people of his legacy. He was definitely saying this in 2020 when the doc came out.

  2. I am a dude and max out at about 14mph. I am faster than average but not fast in any competitive sense. 17 for a young woman is really really impressive.

  3. I run on a treadmill almost every day during the winter, and there’s no way she’s going 17mph. She’s impressive, but it looks more like ~10-12mph

  4. Andre Miller. 17-year career. He is the only player in NBA history to have at least 16,000 career points, 8,000 assists and 1,500 steals without making an NBA All-Star Game.

  5. You can do it. It can be the hardest thing a person’s done, but people have done it and so can you, my friend.

  6. This is a good post. It’s good to have have a balance of perspectives from every part of the alcoholic spectrum. This person is obv here because they take being sober seriously, and it’s great to see all of the serious replies to answer the question.

  7. From my listening, he gave LeBron plenty of props and they both said it won’t be done again in their lifetime. Bill then proceeded to go thru the best scorers all time by each age group and commented on how LeBron leads in the lower and upper age range, which is amazing. Yes, for the fun thought exercise, he mentioned Luka might have a “puncher’s chance” with his 30ppg+ seasons. But he also acknowledged how he misses games here and there and probably won’t have the longevity. Laying all that out showed how difficult 40K is. I’m surprised some people took that segment as minimizing the achievement.

  8. You are 100% correct but at this point the sub is too far gone. I think people get more upvotes by taking something Bill says and applying the most negative possible meaning to it so more and more people just do that.

  9. My favorite Jordan stat is there has been 12 seasons where a player was both the scoring champ and were on the NBA all defense team. The one season where Jerry West did it. The two seasons Kobe Bryant did it. And the nine times Jordan did it.

  10. That’s a great Jordan stat to keep in the back pocket.

  11. Interesting. Valid take, but I feel like the consensus around AI when he retired was that he still had some left in the tank, but it was his pride that didn't allow him to come off the bench.

  12. Not that I’m definitely right, but I’m pretty he was super washed in Memphis. He didn’t take care of his body the way modern players do now and his athleticism fell off a cliff.

  13. I think the truth is somewhere in the middle, folks thought he still had an NBA game on the condition that he “started eating healthy” and accepted a bench role at the time. But it’s for sure the truth that he didn’t take care of his body and that did him in the end.

  14. I agree prob in the middle, he still had some left since 31 isn’t that old. He was blessed with elite athleticism that could’ve for sure lasted longer.

  15. He ended up being arrested for embezzlement so no big surprise

  16. Embezzlement is a bit strong for leftover lasagna, but I guess ya gotta draw the line somewhere ¯_(ツ)_/¯

  17. I don’t understand why this is a big deal given all the successful robot landings we’ve made on Mars. Help me understand the significance of, other than we plunked down new hardware on a body that’s not mars.

  18. It’s a big deal because we haven’t been to the moon in 50 years and this time around we have much better technology. They also landed on the South Pole of the moon, which has never been done before, it’s completely unexplored. Also, the mission will allow NASA to conduct experiments and study the moon like never before. Part of that is mapping the southern region of the moon and gathering data for when astronauts are sent there later this decade. The mission also is measuring the fuel, thrust, energy, etc for landing and traversing the lunar surface to make future trips more precise and fuel efficient. And for the first time, cameras will be set up on the moon to study how the lunar surface changes due natural and human-generated activity and how that could affect future scientific missions. It’s basically gathering tons of new data in an unexplored area of the moon as a means to do reconnaissance for astronauts on future missions.

  19. Maybe... But biggest pop star in history?! How can she say that while somebody like freddy Mercury or MJ lived on this planet...

  20. Because she’s clearly not being serious and she’s for sure saying to do so as a joke.

  21. I agree not a great gag, but it was clearly in jest.

  22. Isn’t early oughts like 2000-2004? I’m just being pedantic tho, great blunders OP.

  23. People that post the Ramona hate are either pretty young or aren’t familiar with her. She’s been covering the nba and the lakers for years, she had a personal relationship with Kobe from covering his career. She’s an actual nba insider that’s also a real journalists that’s been writing articles for years, and doesn’t say anything unless she has good info. Ramonas info is legit and she’s been friends with Zach Lowe for years, since before they were on podcasts. She might not be X’s and O’s, but she has great analysis of how the nba works behind the scenes.

  24. Pay for good players and make the playoffs a few years in a row? How about that?

  25. Bill doesn’t understand that losing weight causes muscle loss regardless of if you’re taking ozempic

  26. That is completely untrue. You can certainly lose weight overall but maintain muscle. You can also build muscle mass while losing fat, it requires you to eat a lot and workout a lot, but you can do it.

  27. As someone who has masters degree in sports science, let me explain. Beginners can lose fat while gaining muscle, maybe low intermediate lifters as well. After a year or two of regimented science based work outs and eating like an adults, you can't really body comp as a natural, or it will be really slow and inefficient.

  28. Yep, basically what I just said. You have to eat and workout enough to not lose muscle while losing fat, muscle loss isn’t simply because of weight loss with or without ozempic.

  29. Bill was right. It’s definitely an advantage going second so you know what you need to win. Getting a higher percentage field goal makes way more sense when you already know the other team didn’t score at all on their possession. If they did score a TD, then you know you need a TD to just not lose, etc.

  30. Sean definitely has a sense of humor but… come on. He’s easily the most tightly wound Ringer personality. When he’s on with Bill/CR/Van he seems like he cracks jokes just to keep up. I enjoy him in the Big Pic and he’s definitely made me laugh, but he’s in his pretentious movie critic bag a lot more these days. I like Sean a lot, and to each their own obviously, just was surprised by the take.

  31. Look I don't wanna get into the whole LeBron/LeGM thing, but it's just so funny to me that Bill, who is horny for literally every team to make a trade at all times, wants to hear LeBron declare that the Lakers will stand pat, because of leadership or something.

  32. I don’t think that’s what he’s saying. The point he’s making is Lebron has a long history of being passive aggressive on twitter and post game interviews going back like 10 years. This time around he did the hourglass emoji, which only feeds the narrative that he wants the team to make roster moves and is ultimately a distraction. He was also saying that the Lakers have made a ton of moves the last few years which makes it’s tough to make moves this year. OPs post is cherry picked and out of context.

  33. I felt the same way a little more than a year ago. It’s tough but focus on one day at a time, they’ll add up. You can for sure conquer this.

  34. My thought is they look like shoes in a shoe box.

  35. The way it’s phrased is funny, but I believe he’s smart enough to not bet on what he can’t bet on. There was that college player that got caught betting on games using someone else’s account but the IP address/location we’re on campus. I think he even talked about it on the pod. If the NCAA monitors that closely, I bet the NBA does too.

  36. It’s way too early for people on the Ringer to be writing pieces and pontificating about it on a podcast. Fair point about all the connections, but I think it’s pretty early in a still developing story. I wouldn’t be surprised if Bill talks about it on Sunday’s pod.
