  1. I recall reading somewhere that it is possible to create a medical device and have it not go through rigorous testing, if you make it an alteration of an existing product (maybe not that exactly but it was something along those lines). Wish I could remember more but it was a little eye opening.

  2. Boeing is proud to introduce their new lines of home blood pressure monitors, lobotomy kits, and razor blades. They’re all approved under the original 737 type certificate.

  3. Wondering who drew the drugs in the third case. It seems too many people in the room. My rule regarding filled syringes, if I didn't draw it, I'm not gonna push it.

  4. One of my attendings trained under the famous Mallampati, she said he was very intense and did not believe in breaks. Not the most pleasant guy to work with apparently.

  5. I had an attending who trained Mallampati. He said Mallampati was very bad at intubations, and they came up with the idea of scoring as a way of determining if he could handle a particular airway.

  6. This was about 20 years ago, FWIW. He had been doing anesthesia since the early 1970s.

  7. “The Merry-Go-Round Broke Down,” followed by pretty much any Sousa march.

  8. You might be able to use a chisel to cut a channel or two alongside the stuck bit, until there’s enough wiggle room to break free.

  9. Great way to beat a fleet of enemies.. park next to something big and get up, they will self destruct

  10. Park next to a space station, get out of the pilot seat, and watch the hour-long fireworks show. “Nobody beats tier 6!”

  11. Maybe they’ve improved the quality. My G2 included earbuds are somewhere between United Airlines coach cabin freebies and Walmart specials.

  12. I heard it’s practically impossible to fall asleep while hovering one foot off the ground so I do that sometimes to stay awake

  13. It’s also hard to fall asleep when you hook a TOF monitor to your arm and have it set to repeat.

  14. 8 hours into an all night finger replant under a microscope is when this trick becomes clutch.

  15. I’m nearly triple your age and just started singing. It’s never too late to start.

  16. Garbage disposals. They’re always shown in movies chewing someone’s hand off, but there’s very few injuries reported…in contrast, nail guns are More dangerous than any movie. Scores of severe injuries, even deaths

  17. Hard disagree. I’ve seen the hand injuries from disposals.

  18. They don't spontaneously turn themselves on. It doesn't have to be unplugged to work on them. Probably advisable if the switch is somewhere that another person could accidentally turn on, but most I've seen are located in a cabinet under the sink or the new style of button on the counter behind the sink.

  19. They don’t spontaneously turn themselves on.

  20. Medical doctor here: not everybody has prominent external jugular veins. Worry less about whether you see veins, and more about whether you’re singing the way you should. Everyone’s anatomy is different. I could show you ultrasound images of some people who have huge external jugular veins and tiny little internals, and vice versa.

  21. The cops in these stories always say how great the band sounds. Nobody ever called the cops on a shitty band, apparently.

  22. We had the cops called on an old “band.” We were bad. The cop was just impressed that so few of us could make so much noise.

  23. The funny thing is that it does not matter what is the Mac of the inhalation agent you are using.

  24. Sometimes you’ve got surgical anesthesia at 1% sevo. Sometimes you’re cranking past the safety stop on the desflurane. Titrate to effect.

  25. How do you reconcile this? Currently in a similar situation and am genuinely questioning severe compatibility issues

  26. You recognize that you can both have good intent, but believe in different approaches to solving world/society problems. Each person’s perspective has merit and also flaws.

  27. After working in a level II trauma center, in the United States for 13yrs years. Yes I would feel safer in a gun free society.

  28. My response is US-specific, in responding to “state.” It doesn’t apply to countries that have taken more effective approaches to gun violence and crime in general.

  29. That's a good question. I'm open to other options. We don't actually MIX on the P16s. I just use them to receive a stereo mix, which is controlled via the app. I have tried wireless and had lots of issues, so I started using the P16s as a way of sending a wired stereo mix. I figured it would be easier to use one Cat5 cable and a P16, vs using 2 XLRs to create a stereo mix. Can I send a stereo mix using an AUX with my phone?

  30. P16 also spares physical outputs on the XR18, which has 8 XLR out including mains.

  31. You are correct, the XR18 isn't much more, especially in the used space. I will save up and buy a proper mixer.

  32. Good plan. The XR12 would run out of inputs (edit: and especially outputs) very quickly. The XR18 is far more useful overall. It will be capable of doing both monitors and FOH at smaller gigs.

  33. Don’t cross the red line into “Zone 4,” the magnet room, with your gear. That room is too noisy to get any useful conversation during the study. No lav on a tech going into the magnet room. No mic on a cable going into the room.

  34. I’d rather spend my money on “The Nightman Cometh.”

  35. That makes a 50s Les Paul neck look like an Ibanez Wizard.

  36. If you have a choice, go to a non-profit.

  37. Nonprofit hospital administrators are as bad as for-profit if not worse. The only difference is calling something a “budget surplus” instead of a profit.

  38. Put a strip of white tape on the thigh of your scrubs for quick notes to not worry about finding or losing scratch paper. Scribble on it with a sharpie.

  39. I’m sorry but are those bullet holes in the last picture? How American of them

  40. Those holes are likely from the firefighting process, checking closed areas for unnoticed fires. They could also be from tools used in clearing out the room. Bullets don’t make rectangular holes in walls.

  41. Probably somewhere midwestern US, on a few acres of land within an hour’s drive of a metro area.
