  1. Weber Kettle. It lasts forever, makes the best food out there, can do anything a pellet grill can do. I still own a few pellet grills and smokers, but I’ve had a Weber for 20 years (the same one) and keep using it.

  2. It is most likely a disconnected phase. Even with single phase 120/208 you have 2 ‘legs’ of hot that are out of phase with each other. If you lose one, half of your panel will be dead. If you have some 240V older appliances or heaters, you might still see the lights on the dead phase show dim. If you have overhead service to your house check the wires, they can rub against the neutral/guy wire and break. I’ve personally had this happen. Call the power company and they will come check it out.

  3. Current drops and therefore voltage drop percentage also drops. This is the reason that transmission lines are commonly 230kV or 500kV because you can operate much more power (Watts) using the same conductor size as if you lowered the voltage. AC voltage is also easily raised and dropped with just a transformer, while DC requires more complex mechanisms to raise or drop voltage. That is one of the main reasons that AC won over DC when electric supply was first being established in a famous battle between Thomas Edison and Nikola Tesla.

  4. Adam Yauch (Beastie Boys). He pioneered so many methods and was a musical sponge.

  5. How you like that little dustbuster

  6. I bought one and immediately returned it after using it once. I bought the M18 version, so much better and it even comes with extensions and a floor tool, I take it camping with me to vacuum my trailer and use it to detail my vehicles as well as boring work stuff.

  7. No because most people who own power tools are not children pretending to be adults.

  8. Same thing happened to me on NYE. Didn’t give enough time to thaw. I’m a nerd and track my temps for every cook to compare where I’m at. It turned out as good as ever.

  9. I’m glad I’m not the only one that treats smoking temps like data and uses them for trending analysis.

  10. I mean you can get a 5 Ah battery for $50 new so I’m more comparing the $200 impact set to a $50 battery.

  11. When did tools become comic books? I don’t know about most of you but I buy tools to use them, don’t look for special edition stuff and don’t care about colour (unless it’s Klein side cutters, don’t even get me started on the one time I bought red handle ones)

  12. The name ‘poop bandit’ makes it sound like someone is stealing poop.

  13. Join one of the neighborhood groups on Facebook. They are much more active than Reddit. I don’t know what AoS even is but someone on one of the groups likely will.

  14. Likely not, probably blown in cellulose. Still, have it tested. Even if you are 99% sure it’s not asbestos, get it tested. I would be more concerned with the drywall mastic containing asbestos, so get that tested while you are at it and don’t disturb anything else until you get the test results back.

  15. The pinky yes. How else are you supposed to open them?

  16. Others have suggested this but I also agree to use what some call ‘dolphin connectors’, but are known in my region and industry as ‘B-connects’. Using a wire nut risks breaking conductors with small solid strand wire and isn’t really a good idea.

  17. This is interesting, but scientifically speaking doesn’t necessarily show that there is 13g of particulate trapped in the filter unless you confirmed prior to installation that the two filters were initially the same mass. There could be deviations in production that could possibly account for more or less difference between the two filters when brand new. Still a cool idea and I’m going to check mine before and after next time I change. I have 5 people, 3 dogs and 2 cats so I need to change them frequently

  18. Using an instant read thermometer changed my cooking 100% for the better. I bought it just for steak after taking a steak cooking class years ago and now I use it on almost every meal I make. I still use my built in probes for long cooks like pork butt and brisket but for grilling and spot checking I use instant read. I personally use and prefer the Thermopop because it is small and accurate.

  19. It depends what you are using the for. If you are just doing DIY stuff I’d say just buy middle of the line tools. If you are in or pursuing a trade then there are absolutely tools worth spending money on. I’m a low voltage tradesperson, working mostly in the electronic security industry but have done lots of electrical work as well. For me good sidecutters, strippers and screwdrivers changed my life early on after wrecking cheap ones over and over again. I’ve had the same Klein blue handle side cutters for 20+ years now and they are still razor sharp and move perfectly. Same with my wire strippers and screwdrivers. I also have a lot of specialty tools like specific crimpers and testers that I am glad I didn’t cheap out on. And never cheap out on a multimeter.

  21. And it’s right next to the most expensive box in the hospital

  22. Yeah, but your response wasn't helpful. You have never towed with a ridgeline. You don't know what you are talking about. There are tons of people who comfortably tow a 4k pound trailer.

  23. So my response to be safe and not put the general public in danger isn’t helpful because I don’t tow a trailer with a car truck? Just because it can tow it doesn’t mean it can stop it or control it. If you hit one wind gust with a light tow vehicle you will know what everyone is saying here. Or have to brake quickly going downhill. Or even try to tow uphill. I tow different trailers all over Western Canada and the Western USA, through mountains and I can assure you that it’s irresponsible to suggest someone use these vehicles to tow an RV, anything other than one of those teardrop trailers that weigh next to nothing.

  24. Just watched a guy on YouTube pull 4800lbs trailer 3000 miles across America with only some heat issues. He wasn't asking about towing over capacity.

  25. You don’t get it. Yes it will tow that. I’m not even saying over the tow rating, even getting anywhere near 60-70% of the tow rating. What I am saying is that a small light vehicle towing is a nightmare. It’s fine until it isn’t, and when it isn’t fine because you lose control, can’t recover trailer sway or get hit with a large wind gust the trailer and tow vehicle will be on their side or off a bridge before you know it. Just because someone on YouTube did it also doesn’t mean it’s a good idea.

  26. They are a little more on the heavier side of the Prog metal spectrum, but Gojira are really amazing. The drums alone are worth listening to.

  27. It’s a terrible location. I’d use at least a can of brake cleaner when doing my oil changes. It doesn’t matter how long you let it sit it still makes a mess. I never thought of this when I had mine but try putting a grocery bag or a plastic cup up there as you start to unscrew the filter. Side bar, if you thing the hemi filter if bad take a look at the Cummins filter location 🤦🏻‍♂️

  28. I can confirm, the Cummins filter is location is much worse. There’s literally no way to unscrew it and pull it out straight so you need to use a bag or a filter plug to stop oil from going everywhere.

  29. I just bought one of those plugs for my next oil change

  30. I’ve got one too but prefer a large ziplock to get the old filter out. Less messing around. I use the plug for the new filter though.

  31. Canadian tire will just try to sell your their Chinese made Mastercrap garbage instead. What a deal, a drill and 2 batteries for $199. Until you try to actually use it…

  32. He’d still be about $820 Canadian doing that. Guess it depends on how far away he is from the border if it’s worth it with gas.

  33. There is also potential taxes bringing things across the border. I’ve spent $1000 and had them let me right through some times then other times they will make you pull in and pay taxes on a $400 total.

  34. You can find a 3000 watt capable step up/down transformer with international plugs already integrated for about 100 dollars on Amazon.

  35. Remember, just because you can buy something on Amazon doesn’t make it safe or legal to use. To run a 3000W device you would need a 40A breaker (30A will technically run but not forever) and it’s probably not UL rated so if it burns your house down the insurance company could blame you for beginning negligence and invalidate your insurance.

  36. I did read the solution that it was low batteries, but like other commenters have said, always measure a known source to verify. Obviously this being your main feed, you would have to go to another house but that would tell you right away that something’s wrong with your meter. Personally I would also never trust a cheap meter. I’ve spent too much time second guessing cheap meters to make it worthwhile. Get a solid lower end (less feature) Fluke, Greenlee or even a Milwaukee or Dewalt. As a bonus, it will last forever. I’ve had the same Fluke meter in my tool bag for 25 years. It’s fallen off 16’ ladders, been dropped in rivers and it still works reliably. Well worth it.
