Yeah if the intent was killing third party apps for the vast majority of users, the API could have been priced low, most users would have slowly left anyway for the official app because they wouldn't have wanted to pay a subscription when a free version was available. The apps would have stayed for hardcore users and anyone with random niche needs, the same users who are now gonna leave so they weren't going to be turned into regular users anyway, and no big protest would have destroyed all their good will in a matter of weeks.
And at this point there’s no going back. Lots of us were saying “yeah Reddit’s been in decline, but where would we go?” for YEARS. Then all of a sudden this dumbass gave everyone a reason to start looking for an alternative in earnest. Cats out of the bag, Fediverse feels like the early internet a lot of us wanted back. They could roll back the API pricing, we’ve moved on.

I started a fortress under a civilization that's about a two week journey away, essentially on the other side of a large bay. There's a walking route to my civ, but it travels through an area where there's a bunch of Goblin pits my civ is at war with.

Question about population caps and sending soldiers away. I need to get rid of a squad attached to their crappy weapons. If I send them to occupy a site will I get more migrants? Or do I have to exile them?
No, because they will never settle in a place that has giant creatures (no civ besides elves settle in savage areas). You also can't raise the training level to 'domesticated' as it is for the common domestic animals. Dwarves also do not have a noble position responsible for taming exotic animals, so they won't generate with more animals available either, and even if they did, they don't have the tag required for taming above-ground animals.
If I make a statue of something a dwarf likes in a material they like from their Preferences tab, and then put the statue in their bedroom next to the door, does it give the dwarf a happiness thought?
What is he best defense against agitated giant birds? Started a new fort by the sea in a savage biome and keep being assaulted by angry albatrosses; they've reduced my population from twenty to twelve and are likely part of the reason I haven't had any migrants in about a year.
Do you know how to check before you open? If you crotch and jam your head inside you can load the internal texture. If it's hollow it's a chest. If it's fleshy it's a mimic

Population cap doesn't count ex-civillians in other sites, correct. You might be able to call some of them back, though, but this is a player action.
