  1. I'll give you my 2 cents. I would say it is hard based on my personal experience, 1996. I was an MT. I also had to crank my first patrol. When I wasn't on the mess decks, I was performing maintenance, qualifying roving patrol and studying for boat quals. This was when we ran 18 hour days.

  2. I'm sure they were referring to future qualifications. It was meant as a joke.

  3. You do you boo boo but I would never rock a boat I wasn't on. I have to much pride in the boats and men I actually served with. It's more fun when people ask me about my sub service rather than saying I wasn't on the usta fish. Just my two cents.

  4. I would assume that given there are other countries submarines out in the ocean specifically looking for launch capable submarines that once they started to launch, would be detected and eliminated either during or shortly after offloading payload. Think of a corvette vs a greyhound bus...

  5. I don’t see what’s satisfying about doing it in front of their faces. You think the employees at a baseball park are creating these machines? Do you think they paid for them to be there? I doubt they care lmao. They just want a paycheck. It’s the shitty billionaires trying to squeeze every last penny out of the team.

  6. I'm sorry you don't see it but I'm fed up with tipping in general. It used to mean something and now it is just expected. They can now expect nothing from me. I'm nor rich but they don't get rich by giving their money away. I don't feel bad anyway as I know there is a sucker born every minute and they make up for what I don't.

  7. I haven't been to a game in a minute but I enjoyed going when it wasn't so expensive and they never asked for tips before. I wouldn't have even paid the stadium prices if the wife wasn't along. It hurt to pay 20 for 2 slices of pizza and 18 for an 12 ounce beer.

  8. 1962 Walt Disney came out to visit the Century 21 Exhibition world's fair at the Space Needle. He liked what he saw and offered to help build Seattle a monorail system to rival the L in Chicago and Subway in New York. He said all they needed to do was put his name on it. The city of Seattle turned him down as their motto was "Limit Seattle" as they were intent on controlling the population growth. Look at how well that turned out. 50 years later they are working on the light rail we could have had all along.

  9. I'm hoping the nuclear reactor-driven fresh air circulation would get rid of this within a reasonable time. Flatulence isn't the only bodily smell submariners have to contend with.

  10. Part of the atmosphere control system functions are to remove carbon dioxide (CO2), since a build-up of carbon dioxide can become fatal. To remove the carbon dioxide submarines use a chemical called amine. When amine is cool it absorbs carbon dioxide and when hot will release it. So the amine is cycled through a machine referred to as a CO2 Scrubber, which will alternately heat and cool the carbon dioxide and pushes the gas into the ocean, keeping the atmosphere breathable.

  11. I remember when I was in the Navy 1996 I could buy a full tank, pack of smokes and a good cup of coffee for a $20 bill. My rent off base was $260 a month with $60 fixed utilities before I got out in 2001.

  12. I have a S23 Ultra and can't get more than 5 games before I crash to home. I think the software is trying to protect my phone from heat damage because it is every single time. I paid for the battle pass but couldn't complete due to crashes. I'm done with this game.

  13. I was in a nuclear missile unit in the US Army from 86 to 89. Between the US and Russia, we possess enough nuclear weapons to destroy the earth 6 times over. Once the initial launch takes place, there will be a volley of missile strikes back and forth with weapon systems set up for follow up attacks. It won't be one nuclear explosion and we are done, it will be several. It also isn't just big cities that are targeted, it is strategic targets as well. If we were to have an all out full exchange of nuclear weapons, we would destroy the vast majority of earth's population.

  14. I don't know if this counts but I still have my submarine drivers license from qualifying sticks! That and my boomer pin and fish. RPPO, DCPO, QAI, Fire Control Sup. Give me quals or give me death!

  15. I left at 18 after high school graduation to join the Navy. Lived in the barracks until i could rent my first apartment. Bought my first home after getting out and met my wife. We are on both of our second home together. Never had to or could imagine living at home again.

  16. "Send Me an Angel" is a 1983 song by Australian band Real Life. The song was released in May 1983 as the band's debut single from their debut studio album Heartland. The song peaked in the top 10 in Australia and is the band's best-known song. This version peaked in early 1984 in the US at No. 29 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.[5] The song was No. 1 in Germany and New Zealand and Top 10 in other countries.

  17. I love this song! I cannot remember what movie it was in, but one of those my younger brother loved and so I was forced to watch it, a lot. I have obviously put up mental blocks surrounding the movie, but I do remember this song.

  18. OP isn't wrong. I got stationed out in Silverdale at then Subase Bangor, circa 1995. My best friend in the Navy was from Kingston, joined the Navy and got stationed 30 minutes from home.

  19. I read this the other day which I think summarizes this video.

  20. I was in '95 to '01 Subase Bangor. When we were in port during turnover, we had tours daily. Our CO's philosophy was "our boat was the tax payers boat and if they want to see it, we'll show it to them". I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to drive the boat bus to Pass and ID to pick up the civilians and retired military that wanted to see it. One of my favorite memories was a WW2 submariner that couldn't believe we were "on a floating hotel".

  21. In my day, it was 2 at a time down by the diesel. It was only an issue after drills when the line was all the way up the torpedo room ladder past the galley.

  22. On the Bama circa 1997, we got a special announcement on the 1 MC two weeks before pulling in. "This is the captain. I have some good news and some bad news. Bad news, we just got extended as our relief is broke for at least a month. Good news, line handlers lay topside for stores load."

  23. Angles and dangles were a wild ride. RIMPAC was fun. Field day and stripping and waxing the deck however was not.

  24. It was due to performance. Probably failed a TRE or ORSE.

  25. He was with E*Trade. Not sure if he still has shares there.
